In the post-2000 era automobiles have changed a lot. Now we are missing a whole era from the late 90’s early 2000’s Gavrils, and the ETK and Hirochis. I guess you could argue the Sunburst is from that era, but it just doesn’t seem that way. For me it just seems like that era is empty. We have stuff from both halves of the 2010s (ETK K-series, Hirochi ESBR). So why not something from like 2005-2006? Also, we kinda have a bit to much of the post 2010 cars. So, maybe in the future some dev will add more cars to the 2000-2010 era.
At least we have the Sunburst from that era. We have no pre-war cars, as useful as a 1930's coupe would be. As for nationalities, Brits, Frenchies, Sweedes, Koreans, Soviets, and Australians don't have a single car between the lot of them.
I really hope that 0.18 brings a much needed refresh to the rest of the old maps and also gives the ETK K-Series an update, as it desperately needs it.
Since the Bluebuck has multiple body styles, I believe a number of people seem to assume that this means all official vehicles will get alternate bodystyles, even though Gabester clearly said he didn't plan to include multiple body styles.
I parked in front of a bus stop on West Coast, and one pulled up to me, ticketed me, and drove away. I am not joking, there was a notification in the top left that said "You got ticketed" and "You can go now." I assume that if I had driven off, they would have chased me.
Concerning body styles, I haven't played the update yet, but I don't think the Bluebuck's silhouette changes with any body styles so we don't have reason to believe any major body styles are in the works. Maybe some more 2/4 door sedans though.
A sedan ETK 800-Series would make a lot of sense. Wagons without a corresponding sedan version are pretty rare, and I don't think an alternate bodystyle would take that much work...
I would also really like an official sedan version of the ETK 800. I really loved the mod, but that seems to be broken by now
In the last three updates we got 2 cars with a big update to an existing car inbetween them. In my opinion continuing that pattern would be a nice way to keep content coming and bodystyles would be a great option for those additions inbetween entirely new cars.
Well, they do take quite a bit of work, but it's way easier to make a sedan from a wagon than vice versa. So with that in mind, we might see a sedan ETK 800, altough I wouldn't count on it
Sure, they don't take as much work as a completely new vehicle, but they still do take a lot of work that could have been put into a new vehicle. I am personally fine with new bodystyles, but only for vehicles that ABSOLUTELY need them. I am not supportive of adding every possible body style to every vehicle, because it would be excessive and we would wind up with a million station wagons. Out of all of the vehicles, I think these are the most important bodystyles that need to be implemented: Moonhawk - Sedan H-Series - Passenger Van I-Series - Wagon Sunburst - Wagon ETK K - Convertible ETK 800 - Sedan DT40L - Articulated (was supposedly going to be added but is probably dead) My opinion only of course, feel free to disagree.
Agree. And, to be honest, the only absolutely needed alternate bodystyle is the sedan version of the ETK 800. All other vehicles could certainly benefit from more variety, but can also go on their own two feet with the options currently available.
Personally, as someone who grew up with games like Midnight Club and NFS Underground/Carbon/Most Wanted, I see the ability for the player to customize their car as very important, and adding more body styles would be a recource efficient way to take that further. The steam greenlight video and over the horizon both mentioned that the devs want more customization too. Example, a ute would be great, but there's no reason to add a whole new car for it when the Moonhawk's platform could be used. Old American wagon's are a huge missing niche, but we have multiple platforms that would be great for them instead of making an entirely new car for it.
I don't know how I can disagree with you. Those all sound great. Honestly, I think more could be added to that list, like a LeGran wagon, I-Series coupe, having the Wendover as both a sedan and a coupe just like the Bluebuck, etc. I could put up a list of body styles I'd love to see become official, though some of them would probably never happen, and some are already available as mods, but the thing with mods is that they can break overtime with game updates. Having the ideas of those mods become official content would do away with the mod breaking dilemma. As for the articulated DT40L, I honestly wouldn't say it's dead just yet. There's probably more work that needs to be done to it, like how the articulated section of the bus will function in game. I'd guess the same thing for the D-Series tow bed.
