I despise the new radial menu, particularly in how it freezes my entire game for a solid minute when I open it and try to open menus on it I am really disappointed with this ui and I want a choice to go back to the old radial menu as it made much more sense and was easier to navigate new one doesn’t even give me the option to delete my current vehicle. Extremely disappointed with the ui this update it’s ruined it for me tbh
Just for quick use, they added the recent section, though someone won't like it --- Post updated --- Only I still don't understand why the gamepad from ps 4 or 5 doesn't have full support like xbox, I really want to switch --- Post updated --- Only I still don't understand why the gamepad from ps 4 or 5 doesn't have full support like xbox, I really want to switch
Please tell me what is faster about having two of the same spawn options in a menu that contains only 7 available spawns?. Also having 3 rows of wich one is separeted by a bigger margin make the menu have an unnecessary scroll bar. Also noticed this one BIG issue. When navigating the new radial menu with a game pad, the menu is so laggy that pressing RB then LB in quick succession doesnt work properly. The menus are getting so laggy that the game probably thinks youre still one the previous tab. To be honest im sad to see the game i loved turn into something that frustrates me more with each update. Can somebody tell me how to install a previous version of the game through Steam?
The main positive aspect about this update is the fact that the interface no longer lags when selecting the menus to change keybindings/controls. There was always an annoying ass 1-2 second delay, but it's now instantaneous. The radial menu is still a downgrade to what came before and overall less convenient. It takes up too much screen real estate with unnecessary options that involve more clicking through menus along with blurring and obscuring the background, when all I want to do is quickly remove the current car or spawn another. The original was clear, concise and to the point. This one is too cluttered.
Radial Menu Feedback: After playing around with the new radial menu for a few days, I have to say that it is a lot cleaner and intuitive to use, while being a lot better to use with a controller, but this is where I have some issues. Why is the radial menu and main menu separated now? Previously, the main menu and radial menu were combined into one and only required one button press. It was honestly already perfect the way it was. Controllers already have limited buttons and both the main and radial menus are pretty frequently used, so making us waste another keybind where before it was only a single button is something I'm not a fan of. This is my possible solution to make it a bit better: Make it so that when you press the radial menu, it also opens the menu bar on top (vehicle selector etc) and the bottom bar as well. Also include the option to cycle between the radial menu and the main menu so it only requires one keybind. Also, this is more of a personal complaint, but I do not like it switching to slow motion when opening the radial menu. There should be an option to have the game paused, in slow motion, and unpaused when opening the radial menu. Otherwise, I'm glad the radial menu has gotten a revamp. I'm pretty sure the look has been unchanged since version 0.10 over 7 years ago.
In all honesty, it's gonna take them another 3-4 months just to get around to rectifying it like usual. Instead of releasing another hotfix, they'll likely just sit on it for a lengthy time span and force people to put up with it. It's gonna be a long 3-4 months. If anything, the previous radial menu was cleaner and more intuitive to use. This is just clunky and cumbersome.
Please add a way we can use the legacy radial wheel and the vehicle customization menu. the new one is to complicated
Hopefully someone technical enough can come along and create a mod that reverts it, but I can't expect too much in that regard.
New radial menu is noticeably laggier than previous one. I'm not even on a slow system. I got 5800x3d and 4070ti super.
FEEDBACK regarding the new radial menu: played for a few days now, i can tell for sure i don't like the new radial menu, it's okay that's just my opinion, but you could add a setting to chose beteen the old and new radial menu layout, so people like me that get their pc frozen while trying to use the new radial menu can just switch to the much faster old layout. by the way it's not like i have a potato PC...
traffic via widget does not work --- Post updated --- etk i series does not spawn. crash report immediately
I’m surprised (not really) so many are up in arms over the UI. The parts selector and tuning menu are improved in their speed, and the navigation and search ability is no worse than the original one. The new radial menu I can understand being more divisive, but it’s really serious to some of y’all huh? How much time do you spend in the radial menu? If you want to quickly remove/clone a car, the debug section of the vehicle config menu is prob the quickest. I have a hotkey for the vehicle config and just hit debug and that’s that. I don’t get it. And when the update dropped, so many people showed that they have zero technical abilities. Like rebinding a key (slow-mo/radial menu) was the equivalent of trying to do long division in their head. All the while screaming at devs to go back and recode everything. I remember when playing a pc game meant you had to have atleast a little bit of tech savviness. Whatever, appreciate the game, devs. The UI is faster for me. I’d prefer to be able to see the environment and don’t need slow mo when in the radial menu- just my 2 cents. And someone else pointed this out too: when searching a specific part (“Folk” wheels for example), you can scroll down, click on a wheel and it’ll reset and scroll back to the top. So you end up having to making the same selection twice.
The UI in general (not the new wheel specifically) is my main barrier to playing this. I find it to be very unintuitive and pretty slow / unresponsive, which when combined make for an awful experience. it's great once i get past the menu, however i often fire open beamng only to get frustrated with the process of picking something to do and closing it again. this might not be so much of an issue for long time players who know exactly what everything is and how to just get into a game, but as a new player, this is a huge issue me. starting from the home screen: perhaps try and group the different game modes, currently it is just a grid of boxes, except free roam which just doesn't quite align with that grid, the larger free roam button implies that this is where most of the content is to me, despite this not really being the case. the garage, track editor, stats and replay, just seem to be stuck there inside a group of buttons that otherwise are all gameplay related. I think if you are going to have one large / primary button, it should just drop you into the game in some way and not present a list of vaguely described choices, so maybe the latest freeroam map, or the last activity you were doing instead. the scenarios section is awful to browse, made additionally painful by the slowness. you can sort by author.. but not challenge type? so i need to scroll down and click on each thing to find out what type of scenario it is. again some basic grouping here would be really nice. sorting by difficulty puts the multiplayer ones at the top (which are all marked easy), then things with unknown difficulty, then hard, and down to easy at the bottom, this just seems broken, and again would also benefit from some grouping or even colour coding. because of the amount of options in a given menu, the 'beep' sound the menu makes become pretty annoying quickly, maybe have a more subtle sound for when just navigating items in a menu (even if just for mouse input)? this is made additionally frustrating because it seems like it won't play a new sound until the old one has finished (or it just takes so long to register a new item is hovered), adding to the unresponsive feeling of the menus. apologies if i seem overly negative / ranty, it's not my intention. it seems the UI is an issue for a lot of people but i wanted to add some specifics, so that, even if updating the underlying code is too big of a task (from what i've gathered it's written using javascript, which is the main cause of the slowness, so would need to be completely rewritten), some shuffling of the buttons and grouping might be able to ease some pain for new players.
why not just leave the option to change layout? i mean it seems the new menu might be better for joypad players, also again it's slow,
I'm not a programmer and it's not my game. However, I'm wondering at what point can developers stop catering to those with weaker systems? If you have a PS3, you're not playing PS5 games. We're onto 5xxx series Nvidia cards and it seems so many complain about poor performance running 2xxx or weak 3xxx cards. After using the new radial wheel for 5 mins, I really can't see a problem other than "it's different". And I don't experience any of the slow down and I'm only on a 12gb 3060 with a 5600x, pretty basic PC.
One small thing that's really bugging me out is that when you press ESC now the whole main menu comes up instead of the little top bar and that makes the game freeze for a brief second and becomes kind of annoying when you just want to open the parts configurator
What pisses me off is the people with gtx 1050’s complaining about poor performance and begging for optimization. I swear no other game does anyone complain about performance on their gtx 1050 --- Post updated --- I used to use the old ui in 0.33 but I got used to it in 15 minutes and can confirm it’s much faster and actually easier to use Than the old one. And that’s coming from someone with 2000+ hours over 6 years of beamNG
