It doesn't have to be that "year" Miata... get an old one and save thousands. Why be stupid and get a 40k pick-up. (My friend got one just like that Sierra it's a shit box)
Besides? How do you hate the Miata (Mx-5)? It's so cutesy and fun to drive! Or even a mini cooper!

For the same price as a used Ford F350, you can get this:

which compared to an f-350 isn't practical at all

yeah most people tend to get big trucks when they don't need it(emphasis on MOST), but it's still more practical than that

However the lotus is alot more fun, and will get way better gas mileage.

    practicality > fun

besides, the elise isn't even being made anymore

a better choice then both the f-350 and a lotus elise would be a decent sized car of some sort, like a focus, or a fusion or something like that

Agreed. Which Is why I went with the Mini... though it isn't very practical... It's still got 4 seats... and a boot. And for less than 10k... That's pretty good. (Used one btw.) Talking brand new, heck, still a better deal than a huge pickup...
If I did get a pickup, I'd be a Toyota Tundra... or Tacoma... (Wish we had Hilux)

(imported from here) Just any of these... I want...
But God I wish we had Citroens...

I'm surprised that it hasn't been a common suggestion, but what about having a big and curvy steel-bodied 1940's car in the mix? With the massive body roll, large mass, and minimal crumple factor, it would create spectacular crashes against other vehicles. Probably a lot of fun to drive, too.

This seems to fit your description quite well, except its a 50s car.

You should also take a look here: Vehicles in Development
It has a list of all unreleased vehicles at many stages of development.
