Was wondering if anyone would be able to make some simpler vehicles (low poly) for AI traffic. I have read that some people say that poly count will make no difference. I can have about 10 to 12 standard vehicles on a map at once before experiencing some lag. Using one low poly vehicle that I could find (Doge Ram 1500) i was able to have 20 to 30 and still no lag just long wait times for opening the menus. Not sure if there is something else about the Doge Ram that made it work better other that its poly count. Something else, maps with a single road to help keep AI on their path (Baja Hills v1.0a by Aboroath) Sorry if there are many maps like this. I haven't checked around much. With the "In Lane" and "Speed Limit" AI traffic works pretty well on this map.
This is quite fun with AI and should be light to run, they even cut corners like IRL drivers https://www.beamng.com/resources/sandy-mountain.2644/ Polycount matters more if GPU is mid range or less, also when having really lot of cars it starts to pile up, especially with shadows and reflections on. Using single same car with same color etc. can be bit lighter than using many different ones, but of course bit boring. Wheels and suspension is the trouble, simple cars could be quite easy to make otherwise, but those at least for me are always a trouble.
the issue is also the jbeam. Having simple automation models mixed with simplified physics that dont allow cllision should let you have about 30 cars on a high end PC, that being said, probably with everything turned down on grid map with 5 FPS.
