    Re: version 0.3.02 released :)

I am experiencing an FPS drop while loading another map. I get sometimes drops to the 50% of initial framerate. In some parts of the map it's like 20 but when I proceed to other part of the map, I get steady 60FPS. Only restart helps with this issue. Not a big issue though, restart always helps. If you want more in depth report on this issue with videos and screenshots- I can do that :)

I have also noticed strange white light on the Grid map (not pure grid!) after map reload or placing another car.

There seems to be a very noticeable difference visually between the new trees and the old trees. I don't know whether something needs updating in my map or not, but they look a lot more sparse now than they previously did which makes everything look a lot more bare. They also appear to have a strange white glow to them now, but I'm not sure whether it's an issue with the texture or the transparency. My performance has improved though, so I might be able to get used to it.

Big problem for me - the Logitech Momo wheel/pedal combo doesn't work. Well, everything works except the gas pedal! I tried renaming input_dynamic to input to see if it would help, no change. Any ideas? And is there a way to revert back to the earlier (playable) version?

The engine braking torque is wrong. It is inverse of on throttle torque, which is way too much. Off throttle the engine immediately lose all revs, and in gear you get a noticeable engine braking torque. Either the engine has no inertia, or the braking torque is way to strong. This is in all cars. The debug show an off-throttle torque curve that is exactly inverse of the full throttle one inversed, which is just wrong. I don't know how this behavior was with the old version, but at least the engines behaved believeably in 3.0.01.

AMD Athlon II x4 645 & AMD Radeon HD 6750

    • No performance differences. Wasn't expecting anything on this combo though.
    • Skidmark bug has not presented itself anymore.
    • Options have saved every time now.
    • Mouse works for camera as it should now.
    • GUI's feel... alright... but I didn't have any problems with it before. I just wish I could change the size of the parts section. I can change the whole window, but the sections don't get any taller
    • It's very hard for me to read the debug menus anymore. I think they should have a ~10% opaque white background behind them.
    • No longer crashes on exit.
    • Sand is grabby, like sand. :D No more wheel eating, yay!
    • The new smoothing for the keyboard inputs feels nice.
    • Everything handles much better now.
    • I love the borderless window mode. Makes the whole F11 thing much nicer!
    • Don't particularly like the new watermark. I preferred the old one much more.

Other than those I really haven't notice anything else that was mentioned on the change log.

I changed a lot of the trees for better performance and a sparser look, may have taken it too far. I'll take a look at them. Can you post a pic of the glow issue?

Yeah, well since the update, I have been having problems when it comes to real-time. When I make the time slower I get VERY low FPS, before the update I would get around 50 FPS when I slow real-time now I get not even 15? I don't know why, but maybe its a bug. Anyone else having this issue?

that makes totally no sense :-/

I like the new version, feels like it runs abit more smooth.

Only 'bad' thing i can say is it now feels abit like the cars are floating around, dont know if its due to changes in the tire model or keyboard smoothing but also it looks like the tires dig a bit more into the ground/roads, havent payed attention to that before so i dont know if it did earlier :)

Could you describe some more the problem?

The drivetrain code hasn't changed between the old version and the updated one, so what you see may point to a vehicle configuration problem or an input problem.

Also with what type of controller are you testing with?

    Edit:

I think i have found about what you are talking about.

The negative engine torque that you see, is coming from multiple directions. It comes from the wheels (via the clutch) that try to brake/accelerate the engine, it is also internal engine friction (that subdivides into a frictional part and a viscous part). All these things are calculated via the drivetrain physics subsystem. It isn't just an arbitrary torque value that we apply to the engine.

It happens even in neutral. The engine acts as if it has a lot of negative (engine braking) torque that slows rotation very fast, as if the clutch is actually engaged, or the engine has no rotational inertia. I will make a video explaining the problem when I have access to the game in a few hours.

If you have any "extra engines" mods or similar installed, uninstall them. They seem to break everything.

I'm having a weird problem with tree's causing my fps to go down when driving past them. I normally get 30 to 40 fps when driving on the road until i get close to a tree, which causes the fps to drop to 19. I don't remember ever having this problem before the update.

Here's my spec's encase you need them:

    AMD fx 8150 4ghz

2x evga geforce gtx 550 ti 2gb overclocked

    16gb of ram

I could try. But I have loads of files into Drive. Would that make a difference, uninstalling it?

not sure what you mean, but the mods and stuff would be deleted if you uninstalled I'm pretty sure

Anyone have any ideas on this? I can't play anymore, and it's making me sad. :( I can manually shift the car into drive, and have it idle forward, but I can't give it any gas.

    Clean install.
I'll try to find time to analyze the issue further tonight.

I found an obviously unintended glitch with the new trees in Dry Rock Island 30.2 it is very annoying and highly noticeable when cursing around Dry Rock Island since they aren't too far from spawn up the right road from spawn and on the right side...
