I'm going to purchase BeamNG soon and I want to know if there are any major advantages to spending $5 more to get the game on steam. Which version should I buy, and what are the differences?
You get more maps and cars You get better graphics (because it's on a newer version) You get more features such as horns, sirens You get more configurations advantages between techdemo and steam version
Thats not true at all. The steam version and the humble bundle version from the website are exactly the same. It's just personal preference, $5 is the steam markup for all the services steam provides such as help and support, discussion forums, server uptime, etc.
What you said isn't even representative of the tech demo. That's just a single vehicle on a single map on an old version of the game, and it's free (not $20). To note about the Humblebundle version, you get both a steam key and a DRM free copy (will require manually updating) if you're into that sorta stuff.
Pretty much... or you could have it as a non-Steam game if you get it through Humble Bundle, but supposedly this way you will have to do some more steps to update the game
It’s not much more work to update it through Humble Bundle. All you need is to download the new version, all mods transfer and everything. Pretty slick. You also get to have old versions of the game, I guess.
yes. the $5 cheaper version includes a steam key for the $5 more expensive version. so technically the same
Yes, as it still provides a Steam key. The only reason it is cheaper is as Humble takes less money than Steam AFAIK. I would only buy the Steam version during a Steam Sale
Like the posts above (that aren't raids), buying off of the website (Humble Bundle) and using the given key to add BeamNG to Steam is cheaper than buying BeamNG directly from Steam, so yes buying off of Humble Bundle is the best way to go.
Nope, it's as easy as well. Steam refunds are managed by Steam itself. Humble Bundle refunds can be requested by contacting us (or HB Support), and the only limitation you have is that it must be requested within 30 days from purchase.
So technically Humble Bundle is still better, as you have up to 30 days to refund your product, and steam only gives you 2 hours of playtime? I'm pretty sure that's how it works, but I might be mistaken.
