NA 3SGE with factory extractors and custom intake with full red and black leather interior, hopefully getting the a new clutch then detailed in the next couple of weeks
Manual not FTW if I have to drive around San Francisco or park on a hill or get out of a tight parking space or if I just want to get from point A to point B or there's a ton of traffic. Also, my Maxima effortlessly cruises along in comfort at 80 mph. My Prelude feels like it's going to explode at 70. They're very different cars, and I appreciate both of them.
Finally someone else around here that understands that autos have their place. Gotta say I'm not a huge fan of CVTs though. What did I do to my car today? Cursed it. There's been a ton of snow that I could be drifting in. Damn title
hey look, what i did today i also agree with the auto trans stuff for example, i couldn't see a manual be any fun on a giant american suv, so an auto just makes sense IMO also there's this one city in my county that literally has a stop light every 5 feet, a manual would not be fun at all in that like who the hell designed that thinking it was a good idea
Found out that my extra lights do not work for some reason...fuses are intact and the grounds are good.
Got the Escort home and took pics. https://drive.google.com/folderview...JyMmg5d3NCcXA0Z1oyMDFMS0Q3b042ek0&usp=sharing
Hm, yeah. Even with a 6 speed my dad says the engine turns too fast at highway speeds. I mean, it can drive ~35mph in 6th gear, no problem.
35 in 6th would be worse than 4th or 5th. Less torque to wheels requires excess throttle not required at a lower gear, enough to cause an increased fuel drain over the lower throttle but higher rpm. This can often be confirmed with fuel flow meters. As for highway speeds. Most engines are most fuel efficient when running at peak torque, 60mph often coincides with peak torque in maximum gear.
I cleaned my headlights today with some cheap ass $5 kit from autozone. I didn't expect it to work as well as it did tbh. I also got a new "performance muffler" that is basically just a rebadged flowmaster 40 series because they apparently lost their patent. Still have the filthy peasant y pipe though because im a high school student with a shitty job that can't afford to get true duals put on .
I'd keep my eye out in junkyards for Crown vic P71's. Occasionally you'll come across one that hasn't already had the exhaust ripped out of it and you can get a killer deal on a stainless dual exhaust setup.
You can get an H-Pipe for $40 online. Left side tail pipe for $35. Mufflers are the biggest expense... I'm thinking a nice set of Magnaflows. I don't want volume (since it's illegal to modify your exhaust system here to increase volume...) I want the tone. This car sounds perfect. $250.
Ive been to like 3 salvage yards here and not one p71 . A shit ton of ypipe Gmarquis but no dual ones. - - - Updated - - - Too bad i cant weld though, all of the shops around me refuse to install anything that is not from their shop.
A shop welded my Flowmaster 40 DF on my truck with no questions asked. $60. Best $120 I spent on my truck so far. Wonder if I can get the system on my car done now...
I wish I could upgrade something engine-related in my Prelude but everything is illegal in California No CARB-approved turbo manifolds or exhaust parts, and I don't have the skills or resources to carry out an H22 swap (newer Prelude engine that does have CARB-approved parts). My car isn't necessarily slow... but it's not fast either.
Sold my Datsun 620 The head gasket blew and it started to get some rod knock. It was beyond my ability to fix and afford. I'm going to miss the truck, but it is going to a good home. The guy who bought it was a mechanic who works on Datsuns, he rolled up in a 240z with a rb25 swap. Here is an album of the pictures from my craigslist ad http://imgur.com/a/RfDvo Losing my truck gives me the drive to finish this project.
Yesterday there was a huge coolant puddle collecting under my car...AUDI Y U DO THIS. It's a brand new radiator! I'm giving up on this car very soon...
You should know better than anyone else here (except me ) that owning an old Audi means spending twice as much time mending it than driving it. I don't know much about 80s, but I'd check the seal around the main coolant hose and the one leading from the coolant overflow reservoir first. Also check that your drain plug hasn't warped if you reused the old one for whatever reason. Turn the heater on full blast to make sure the hoses leading to the heater core haven't crapped out. Don't forget the feed and return hoses behind the engine.
