Good thing you mention that, JNC did a blog entry a while back about new Hella Halogen lamps LINK They offer good visibility at night, while retaining the classic look of old sealed beam headlamps, so it should be perfect for your application Otherwise, some period driving lamps would also be a good option.
Gave it a really thorough vacuum and wash -doorjambs, rain channels and all. Am I the only one that soaps up a scouring pad and goes to town on the engine bay? (imported from here)
Yesterday I took off the fading, rusty steelies. I sanded them down, cleaned them with some solvent, then painted them 'colonial red'. In my opinion they look pretty good. I also put some beauty rings and center caps on it as well.
Can't say I agree with the red, do want to repaint my steelies too though. What did I do to my car? Drove it.
Don't know if I like the red but they look REALLY clean. Good job. Found out a sub enclosure for my truck would only be about ~$250...
What did I do today, hmm. Lugnuts on my car aren't lugnuts. They have a lot of offset on them for the sport rims that came with it. 12 point star in it, and smooth on the outside. Need a male 12 point socket but don't have one to take the wheels off to even put air in them.
Locknuts bruh. Search around the car for the key. Also, why would you have to take the wheels off to put air in the tires?
Doesn't answer either part... Rego or insurance doesn't change that you have security nuts or the fact that you don't take the wheel of the car to put air in the tyres.
yeah, I was really hoping that it would be a darker red, but hell I may just redo them some other color in a months time anyway since it was so cheap to do. That or I was toying with the idea of getting my car painted black, in which case they would match, but that cost a fair amount of money so idk.
Black would look cool but yeah a respray isn't cheap... Else my car wouldn't be maroon or whatever it is. Bike pump. Or an air compressor for car tyres is fairly cheap.
Finally got around to the grill. It was 50F out today. The Before The Tape The Paint The During The Result
Just got my gps dashcam I ordered over ebay, going to install it now - - - Updated - - - I took the car charger and modified it to go onto my radio wiring and I made a few ventilation holes in it. All wired up and sponges put over to avoid (more) rattles and to completely cover my ventilation holes. The red line resembles the path of the wire. I put the camera behind my mirror where it is barely visible and out of my way. (sorry, my car was on its roof when I took this pick)
Very similar to my install but I went around the passenger side and routed the cable under the glovebox. I also havent gotten about to modding thepower supply into the car wiring. I've purchased a spare 12v outlet that I was going to install within the dash rather than modding the camera cable itself.
Yes, there arent really many other ways of doing it, hey? I considered the spare outlet thing, but ended up just modifying the power supply, I think its an easier and less time consuming option. I just hope the dashcam lasts in the heat here, I read something about heat problems with it in hot countries... Its an Ambarella 0803 with gps and 8gb internal storage.. I must say Im quite impressed with it so far and it was quite cheap.
I have a transcend drivepro with a 16gb microSD, it doesnt have gps but its full 1080p with a huge FoV and it has wifi for transferring files back to an android app. I have seen people run cables straight down the centre of the wind screen (morons), or tucked around the headliner and pillar as we have but then straight across the top of the dash (mines actually in the door sills to go down the pillar to the underside of the dash/glovebox, removed trim from underside of glovebox and ran cable through there). Messy installs. also seen them mounted on the dash rather than behind the mirror.
I gave her a proper wash, put the missing trim bit infront of the driver door and cleaned the steering wheel, gearknob and pedals
