Rigged my 71 Lincoln town car with an rc function and drove it around the race track, If you could call it that, in my 2 acre backyard. Hit a tree, almost flipped the poor thing over, and stalled it out 3 times. Tomorrow, I plan to actually drive the car while in the driver's seat. Hopefully then, I won't fail so much.
Well, not all of it was today, but I worked on my truck replacing the tranny lines and repairing the shifter linkage. I also had to buy a new pinion yoke and u-joint for my front differential. Everything works good on it now, but still need to replace front brake lines/calipers soon. They're functional, but are both very flakey. GUy before me wasn't great at maintenance and clearly let it sit somewhere for quite a while after getting salt on it. I put a new lower radiator hose in my Honda yesterday. Today I prepped most of the body seams on my 75 Chrysler for seam welding. I tried out my new welder and I plan on starting welding the trunk seams in it tomorrow. Picked up plenty of steel for welding strap on the doors at a steel warehouse today. (Yes, I said strap on) Got a decent price for it too, 45 cents a lb. That's about all so far. Might fill ya'll in tomorrow on the welding if anyone actually gives a flying F*ck. Keep being awesome, -Mo
Currently missing it. I'm about 300 miles from home at the moment, and I just wanted to work on it, and no, I am on a field trip with school. All we have done today really is ride this coach bus and go on a museum tour. Later is going to the beach, another tour, and hotel. They say that's around 8ish, and it's 2:16.
Today I tried to change one of the lightbulbs behind the air controls. I was trying to take out the bulb out of the housing with some pliers, and I used a bit too much force...it exploded. Small pieces of glass everywhere... I had to change it redneck style. Took a bulb that is supposed to go in the dash cluster and and sort-of connected it all up, and it works fine now, atleast there is lighting there now
Audi seems to have a massive hardon for those little incandescent T10 bulbs. I can see why though; most of them in my car are working factory originals. Nothing to report on my little A4. Suspicious...
Equipped with only a ratchet, extension and 14mm I removed the bed off a Dakota and disconnected the steering from the box (key was stolen). Then I used an old seat belt as a tow strap and took it up the hill with my 300CE, manually prying the wheel in the direction of each turn. Next step is to build a tiny home on it.
Put a nice sensible audio system in it, three speakers with a 220w amplifier, loud enough to drown the noise the car makes, but not too power demanding. It's also quite well hidden, one speaker in the original place under the dash, and one in either rear wing. For the rear speakers I had to cut a piece of wood to mount them in, and I had to carpet it all with some leftover original carpet. The amp is hidden attached to the back seat in a spare "map pocket" Pics soon.
http://boston.craigslist.org/sob/pts/4947488563.html Mmmm.... Guy emailed back saying $25 for the intake. $40 for the speakers. I'll offer $60 for the lot and see if he'll take it.
The right compressor was harder to find than I thought. I bought a refurbished unit off of a Discovery 3 today for R1500 -so much for my budget. Im still waiting for 1 important part that I ordered from Ebay then I can start assembly.
I think my grandmother's Lexus is about one of the most ridiculous vehicles I've dealt with when it comes to plastic engine covers. You gotta take a cover off just to get to the battery and, even then, access is still pretty restricted.
Put the new intake in. Notable sound difference and a bit more power at higher RPM. Lower RPM seems to have a little more snap to it. I paid $25 for the whole air intake. They go for ~$275-300 online. Gotta throw the Rockford-Fosgates in soon to.
Inb4 voice coils are fried. JK. That intake is nice. My car needs some new speakers. The redneck before me put 6x8s in the 5.25 inch spot in the front doors, and get this, the speakers in the back have the screws going in backwards, pointing upwards. Now, to figure how to get door panels off and take a look.
