I may be wrong, but if that truck is post-1973, that is a Duraspark (?) box Again, I'm probably wrong, as a Mopar guy Edit: Didn't realise that post was from November, whoops
Picked up a 2004 Volvo s60R a couple days ago. Love this thing. Its got the Atacama leather interior, and the m66 manual.
Replaced all four ignition coils after they went bad in less than a year. Car drives 10x better than it did before the horrible all-cylinders misfire started last night, which means these were already going bad for a while before.
Poked around underneath my 2004 Ram 2500 2wd For a rust belt truck, the frame is in immaculate shape Also cleaned the interior
Cleaned my mazda 6 bit then went for a drive. I really dislike how this car drives i think it would be ok if it was a manual but the auto has weird quirks when trying to carve up canyons the 6-5-4 down shifts in manual mode are so harsh that it feels like a motor mount is gonna break. it feels like down shifting in a manual without rev matching. i have to be on the gas slightly to avoid it and it makes it hard to slow for corners. The brakes biting point is bizarre and makes it hard to slow down also its like nothing, nothing then all of a sudden massive stopping power. probably cause I didn't bead them in proper. The lowering springs made the car trash through corners defiantly need to get proper coil overs whoops
So i have found some rust on drivers floor, i was always wondering why the carpet was always damp. The underfelt was just mush and kept everything nice and rusty, so i "welded" in a new section Brand new ! And now i have been very busy with electrics, i got the factory correct Astor radio repaired. So i set about wiring that in and getting some music without carrying a portable radio. It was pretty straightforward, main power to the fuse block, then negative wire ashtray door mount screw, output wire to speaker, then earthed out to the radio casing (incidentally off the same screw for the radio ground). Fun stuff, though unfortunately the AM band music station selection is narrow... Only one... the other four stations are either sports or talk, mostly both. At least that one station mostly plays older stuff, even if it mostly junk from the 80s, but hey sometimes there's a bit of disco Oh and two more things; Ordered a new Chinese copy carburettor, im expecting that in a weeks time, and i DONT need any beratement for my choice, most problems with these things is from people expecting them to work straight out of the box, but i digress, its the only economic choice. And im now back in my beloved Perth Now smile for the camera !
Not a car, but did some much-needed work on my minibile (Coleman CT200U-ex) Straightened the handlebars and fixed the chain tensioners Also flipped around the rear fender to make it resemble more of a scrambler
Got some new lights installed on my Eclipse. Playing the NFSU2 soundtrack while doing it gave me this strange wave of nostalgia.
Well i have been busy, got the heater working. Though unfortunately all the heater taps that will mount securely (a must if the lever is to actually be moved properly) and fit in the confined space under the dash are of utter shit quality and start leaking the moment there is coolant in the them. Those little bastards were taken off the shelve for over two years just for that very reason and only came back on the market a few months ago, seems they havent fixed them. So In come the good ol' garden tap. Pictures speak for themselves Im rather proud of my now working heater, and fully functioning car, next up, the new carb and an FM module for the radio
Got my 2SS tuned for the new camshaft, smooth idle. It's a 6-speed so I'd like to keep drivability. It's currently running rich.
took off the tachometers of my two 1997 Piaggio Sferas, as one has a broken tachometer (most likely smashed in with a rock or something, idk what happened) and needs less work that the other which has a good tachometer. parts scooter shenanigans, although i'd love to have both road legal some day Also, I may or may not have a strange obsession with 90s scooters. (I own 6, 7 if you count my 92 vespa PK50 XL 2)
Ah good evening my fellow leadheads ! I have i have playing with many fun things, got the new carb, used some bits from the old carb to make it work hunky dory and fiddling with it for the past few weeks. The performance is phenomenal, now im using much less throttle to get same acceleration as with old carb and as expected the economy has gone through the roof (though im yet to do a proper check of the liters used for the miles) plus im no longer really pushing the pedal down to maintain anything above 55mph which is nice, the old jets i think were a bit too small for the now 7 cubic inches larger engine not to mention the extremely worn throttle shaft which i found to have about 1.5mm of free play in the base plate! Its a wonder it even ran at all. Also remember that master cylinder that was rebuilt and went dud not too long ago... Well it happened again this past sunday. Took it back and the fellow behind the counter disappeared into the rooms out of sight, five seconds later the guy reappeared with a brand new aussie built reproduction cylinder (which usually cost a casual $600+) and with a wink gave it to me and said dont tell anyone. I do believe he could've gotten into big trouble about it because really he should've given the old one to the guys out back in workshop first to be checked again. But alas all those brake problems i have had have all gone the way of the wind. A rock solid pedal with almost no travel to get pressure, no more bleeding issues, no more erratic lock up, no more anything! Just working brakes. Anyways pictures, y'all like pictures right? Gee i really should get some car friends, i keep giving these sermons of the shitbox on this forum and im afraid that i might be irritating some of you which prefer the shorter, less detailed posts
Finally got those new rims on. Now rolling on a set of brand new summer tires instead of the winter tires from 2005. Next up is an oil change since the oil I’ve got right now is from 2017 or something.
Today i was at a VW meet with my car and even though skodas and so on were allowed i was the only skoda there
did the brakes of one of my sfera's with my father's help, and put the tachometer back on. spoiler, it did not work. also, we removed the plastic cladding at the back, and changed the electronics thingy from the red sfera (which had the broken tachometer) onto the blue one, as that one did not have a spark anymore and thus wouldnt start it did not work, and when we put it back on the red sfera, it did not work (it worked before) tl:dr, one of the sferas killed the others electronics thingy aand thats why you have 3 of them
