Audi. Cracked sump after aquaplaning/lockup into a speed bump at 45km/h. Had the option of just sealing the crack, or replacing the whole shebang. I picked the latter for some reason. ... Sway bar and A/C lines in the way. Audi taking the absolute piss, so business as usual. (imported from here) Out came the sway bar and the sump... And bits of the gasket... (imported from here) No visible sludge on the bottom end and top end was clean as well, which is a great sign. (imported from here) Sorry car, but there's no way I'm paying $56 for a gasket made 20 years ago. Ultra high temp gasket maker will do. (imported from here) Making this post while waiting for the sealant to cure. I'll tighten everything up when it does and update this.
This old girl turns 18 this week. Might have to put her on the road sooner than I thought as the Insurance guy didn't seem very positive about my car being fixed and not totaled. Needs a nice under hood wash Interior still looks new Weird how the paint almost looks purple-y
I put some sevens on it - - - Updated - - - The truck looks quite good, how does it compare to your car?
Literally different in EVERY way. 5-speed manual vs 4-Speed Auto 4.0L V6 vs 4.6L V8 4.10LSD vs 2.73 Open The Grand Marq is a full 30"(76cm) longer than the truck and 9"(23cm) wider. Truck rides like a truck and the Grand Marq rides like you're in the clouds. Grand Marq has power everything but the truck has no power accessories except like the radio. Grand Marq is at 113,150 miles (182,660km) and the truck is at ~142,000 (229,000km).
Would be a shame if the Mercury is considered totaled, unless there's significant damage underneath that I can't see it honestly doesn't look THAT bad. Surprised how darn clean looking the interior is on the Ranger you posted.
Thanks. I try to take care of my cars. It's not the damage as much as it is the age. It's 11 years old now. Still runs and drives perfectly. He just missed the wheel when he hit me so no alignment issues. It didn't even push my car over when he hit me.
I installed my G1WH dash cam today and went for a short drive to test it out. I'm very pleased with the quality, but I still need to work on adjusting the position of the camera. I ended up routing the 12V power supply into the 12V socket in the ashtray, but I was able to route it nicely without using tape and so that it isn't very noticeable.
In the Corsa rather than running the cable down the inside edge of the a pillar, I tucked the cable into the door seal. Top of the windscreen the cable ran in the headliner. Removed trim panel under the glovebox and ran cable under that to get to 12v socket. Focus I am undecided but will definitely be using the additional 12v socket I bought.
Got an update on the title. The state is telling them that, to get a new title, they have to auction the vehicle. And they have to do so through an auction company and provide proof. :| It'll probably go for more than 1k if it's auctioned with a large audience, and the whole reason I'm buying it is because it's so cheap, so the future of the Crown Vic is uncertain at this point. :| If I pass my test, I'll be getting my learner's permit on Monday. I want to give it a thorough test drive myself.
It's a 30 question test and you're only allowed to miss 6, so it's pretty close to that. I hear from some people that its the easiest test ever, and from some people that they failed it two or three times. I'm gonna study, though. I got the booklet thing from a friend.
It seems Ford have designed the Focus with easily-removable wheel caps so they fly off when cornering. How fun.
hence why you cable tie hubcaps to cars. All hubcaps seem to do that. I got a quote on front disc and pads today. One garage in town wanted £90 for parts alone, let alone VAT and labour, when querying what brand those were they replied "unbranded, branded ones will cost more". Fat chance. Online I can get brembo front discs, £30 including VAT, brembo front pads, £25 including VAT. £55 including VAT for parts. Check with my usual garage in town, they offer £35 for parts including VAT, unbranded. More evidence that tackwoods is just shit. I may just DIY it though, never done it before but there is a first time for everything.
It took about an hour and a half to replace the front rotors and pads myself. I saved a significant amount doing it myself, parts alone cost around $250 for front rotors and pads for my E46. Having the same thing done at a shop would have cost much more. It's not too complicated, but be prepared to spend ten minutes washing your hands afterwards. You will also need a jack and jack stands, so you have to take the costs of tools into consideration. It made since for me personally, since I already had the resources needed for it.
