Sounds like a fine example of "That'll do" winning out. I really want to meet the people who approve stuff like that, and ask them "Is that the best way you could have done that? You could have just put a different pulley on the crank with another channel for the PS belt, but no, you decided to make it rely on the AC compressor.
the thing is, you dont even need that, you could probably get away with the PS pump and AC compressor being inline with each other and sharing 1 belt, that way you can keep the stock AC compressor pulley and crank pulley too. Would only need a different belt which is much cheaper. There are a few solutions, and running a second belt from the AC to the PS is not the one I would have chosen.
Well. Marq is down again. Was at Burger King and came out after 10 mins. Car started nice and strong (normal). 10 mins later the battery light and all my idiot lights come on and my compass and out side temperature gauge start going crazy. Race it home with my friends Vic following me in case I need a push. Got home with a burning plastic smell this time. Almost like the smell of new electronics. My battery had fluid all over the top and on the corner of the engine bay. Runs fine tho. It's being overcharged for some reason. EDIT- The voltage regulator in this new alternator might be shot.... Life time warranty to the rescue.
Suddenly, a plague of car trouble has alighted on this forum. Seems my brake failure was not a fluke, but a harbinger.
Yeah, I was surprised that I walked out of it. Ofcourse, a couple of minutes later I was laying on the pavement unable to get up... Doctors said that I cant walk for the next 2-3 weeks. On the bright side they did not find any broken bones, which does seem lika a miracle beeing T-boned at 50 km/h.
I lost all my coolant from the back of my engine on my GTR R32, now i have to check something like 20 waters hoses and freeze plug in a very very compate place. Hoping i will not have to remove part like plenum, valve cover, head..... The only good thing, the car was just running to idle and we saw the coolant leak before overheating the whole engine.
I mean, it is possible to just run the PS if you find the right length belt without changing anything if you take off one of the belts for the fan/pump/alt. Otherwise you have to leave the AC in or move the PS forward.
Glad you made it out of that nasty crash... It's just a toy dude and you know, we boys, always break our toys ;-) What I did : I did a muffler delete
Got the Marq running again. I took the new alternator I had bought 4 days ago and had fail two nights ago. The Voltage Regulator was bad so I used my lifetime warranty and got a new one from another brand. Good to go so far.
I have done a significant amount to my M3 in recent months. Most notably, I had the hood and rear diffuser professionally repainted. I also discovered that the previous owner installed the wrong right taillight, which incorrectly led me to believe that the rear quarter panel and trunk lid was damaged from a previous accident. In addition, I purchased a set of original chrome kidney grills and side vents to replace the black ones, which I think is one of the biggest improvements I've made to the car. I also bought a set of "invisible" indicator bulbs, which look great in comparison to the stock amber bulbs. Additionally, I purchased a used German license plate and holder. It's slowly approaching 90,000 miles, most of which have been trouble free.
