    What computer do you have?

Hay all, didn't see a thread for this, if there is sorry.

Just wondering what computer you guys have and what it's specs are.

I have a 2010 white unibody macbook with a 2.4 intel processor. I upgraded my ram from 2gb to 4gb and have had my computer for about 4 years. It currently has OSX Mavericks and dual boot (bootcamp) Windows 7 32bit.

BeamNG runs at about 25fps on low settings.

There are already plenty of threads asking the same, anyway, I run a custom computer (specs in signature) if you also want pics, ask.

Re: What does everone have under the hood?

I realized that I haven't posted my new case on this thread yet so here:

Old: (From like the beginning of 2013 not long after I got the new motherboard/CPU)

    (imported from here)

    Now: (Phantom NZXT)

    (imported from here)

    (imported from here)

    (imported from here)
(I took out the smaller drive bay and turned the PSU the other way for better airflow after this picture)

Everything runs cooler in this case than in my old one with the side panel off.

i have a cheap custom build with very high quality parts.

$260 for my sig. Not to much lower than a pre built considering I already had a case and hard drive, but I can overclock and my PSU won't blow up :p

    Brothers pc

Intel Haswell 4770K unlocked to 8 cores its Air Cooled I might try and get an H100i in push pull for it but idk about it my dad doesnt like the idea of water inside a computer and it leaking...
    EVGA GTX770 Classified 4GB
    16GB DDR3 1866MHz memory
    MSI Z87-GD65 Mobo

I know but I was totally unsure about the 860W model running that graphics card so I went over the top for it...

Everything is outdated, burn that pc and buy some hardware to build a new one.

Re: What computer do you have?

5 years ago it would have been ok at best. 8800GTS, discontinued so long ago its not even funny, same applies to the core 2 duo.
Redeeming factors: it physically has 4gb of RAM (which isn't exactly gaming rig material either, guessing from CPU age will be DDR2 so uselessly slow RAM too), 3ghz clock speed (although a current ivy bridge or haswell core CPU would outperform it from much lower clock speeds), actually has dedicated graphics (which were obsolete years ago).

Chances are man that the only parts still useful in this day and age are the optical drive, hard disk, case and power supply. Motherboard will be older socket types so can be added to the junk pile along with everything else in there. If it was a pre built machine there is a chance that its a non standard case too so that might even have to be ditched but most of the time that isnt an issue.
You essentially need to build a new machine if you want to improve it.

I wouldn't know where to begin, this day and age im lost in the current pc world their is too much to see and too many parts out, not to mention the cost and how long the pc would last? i would love to get into it again but its getting started all over thats the hard part, its a custom case so that can stay, psu any good? anyone want to show me the way forward? haha like i said, ive been away from the pc modding world since this rig was ever put together like 7 years ago haha

Don't fear it! Really, it's really simple! I did my first fully custom PC 2 years ago (my 'old' rig) and I researched for only about 2-3 days (I had a bit of a background but nonetheless). It was super simple, give it a try you will never regret it. Also, us here at the forum will happily help you :)

Re: What computer do you have?

Thanks :) But Honestly i wouldnt know where to start anymore, i dont know whats good or bad, whats compatible with what ect, when i first got into building pc's is was simple. there wasn't many parts there was't much cost honestly it didn't look like the monster it is today! i dont have alot of money to build the "best there is" machine so. And i know people will say if your not going to build a really good one or a excellent one don't bother, but i don't have silly money to spend anymore. i just want an up to date relevantly good spec pc to game on :)

Re: What computer do you have?

Well that's an easy solve, just give us a budget, some general guidelines about size of the pc, main uses it will have, things we must be concerned about (something like you living in a hot area or whatever maybe) and we can say what is best for what you want :)

Edit: Don't feel rusty, if you know how to plug a plug you can build a pc haha. Simple puzzle.
