Re: What does everone have under the hood? If you look up my RS3 account (everything completed before November 21, 2012), you will see it has 7 99s. I loved it before EoC since I started playing back in 2006 and I never really left it. I hated the SoF when it was added and I hated Solomon's even more. They ruined themselves in my eyes and I believe there are many more like me. I think the bond idea was a good one, however I gave away my remaining 1b in January 2013 to a friend and I can't afford bonds to play.
Re: What does everone have under the hood? Computer is a regular HP Pavillion m9040n, with the mods I mentioned. The outer panel that slides off has been replaced by a multi-layer panel of duct tape. Intake has 2 specific points, a flap that's open on the front of the case, and a side tunnel with a fan directly feeding the GPU. Exhaust is a little more complicated. The GPU exhausts into a homemade duct that feeds directly into the bottom of the PS (which has a fan), so it gets sucked out the back of the computer and doesn't affect ambient temp inside the case. The CPU has it's own custom duct and has a helper fan on the outside. Put simply, everything that creates heat is isolated and made more efficient. Exhaust heat exits the case efficiently without effecting any other component. This makes rock bottom ambient temps, and allows for the GPU to be overclocked more than it normally could in an untouched case with almost no airflow at all. (It looks ghetto as f**k, but it's all sealed and legit)

But if you're looking into getting anything new, Newegg.com will be doing their Black Thursday event the whole week of Thanksgiving, you could score some new components and maybe a new case. Got my Rosewill Challenger case for like $34 on sale, aesthetically pleasing, and there are 6 spots for fans (it comes with a 120mm and a 200mm)

Re: What does everone have under the hood? Haha I wasn't expecting so many people to actually 'get' what I was going for. The computer was purchased by my gfs dad many years ago and is kept at her house obviously. Without making too much of a long story, he is an extremely angry person with no imagination, sense of humor or mechanical skills. Completely opposite of my own father... So when he saw what I did he sat me down and made me explain what I did. If I changed the case, he would ban me from the house (for the second time). And probably charge me the cost of the computer just for fun.

Re: What does everone have under the hood? From what little information he has said about himself before I have a vague guess. If something is broken and you haven't managed to fix it then you arent using enough duct tape. Although I tend to use electrical tape quite often now, that stuff is boss
Re: What does everone have under the hood? @ The ghetto cooling mod, that looks pretty cool. I just have a decent $40 water cooler on my CPU and my GPU stays pretty cool the way it is. Also, my netbook regularly got up to around 160f and the fan was LOUD. so, I took it apart and it has a super crappy heatsink. Its just a flat piece of aluminum or something with a fan attached. So, I scraped off the thermal pad thing and put in a copper shim with thermal paste on each side. Runs like 40 degrees cooler now. On my main laptop I've already put copper shims in for the CPU and the GPU. (GPU is over clocked but not overvolted) My old P4 setup had a super cool heat sink. It was all copper and had a 4000 rpm fan. It maxed at like 130f and p4s are generally hot. It was horrifyingly loud though.

My machine runs okay I mean the Processor runs at around 49 Degrees C but it never gets beyond 70 Degrees C on a stock cooler my Graphics card the HD5770 runs at around under idle load of around 47 Degrees C but it never gets beyond 60 Degrees C when playing Minecraft with a full HD Resource Pack I mean I get great FPS and all that its a good 5 year old pc for me

At the moment: Dell Dimension 4700 Stock motherboard Stock p4 3.00ghz 2gb ddr2 ram 500gb hard drive from a tv box 8400gs graphics card 1440x900 monitor and 1280x1024 monitor The cpu is too slow and hot, but the ebay seller still hasn't gotten me a replacement motherboard for my other computer yet

Re: What does everone have under the hood? ^That's a pretty desk you got there. I've had a few steering wheels over the years.. When I was 7 or so my dad had this awesome steering wheel for our family computer for playing NFS Porsche Unleashed (Awesome game) but my younger brother thought it was a good idea to force it to one way so it kept turning which ripped all the wires out and my dad couldn't figure out which one went where when trying to solder them back on.. Then we had a much cheaper wheel which I forget what happened to. Then when I was 11 or so I got a cheap gameport wheel for free on Craigslist. I set it up and used it on World Racing 2. But the gas pedal broke off and I had never gotten one of the paddles to work so I had to make do with that until it just broke more. Right now I just use an Xbox controller. If anyone could recommend a good used or new wheel under around $100 that would be AWESOME.
