what happens when I follow a person on beam ng?

I am following a couple people on beam ng, I don't seem to get any notifications when they post/respond to different threads. so I was wondering what happens when I follow a person. (this sounds vary stalk-ish)

 

Simply put good sir, nothing of note; following a user provides them with a notification that you have followed them. That, and a few settings within your profile privacy page is the extent of its functionality.

It just shows respect and love to the person

 

It does mean that their posts show up in Your News Feed (accessible from the profile drop down menu) as well.
We don't get notifications from that though unfortunately.
