I'm pretty sure you can create a brand name vehicle as a mod. That restriction is only for people associated with the company I think.
At this point, I'm pretty sure that US copyright law is intended mainly to cause as much misery and frustration as possible. Sometimes for the copyright holders themselves, too.
Alright, mixed news. I have decided to abandon the Jimny due to suspension issues. And it turns out I'm not going to college yet, nor do I have a job yet. And yes I have started a 959 model where the filename is ETK. So, should I create a new brand or just stick it under ETK? The other idea I had was to start with a 959, then give it a square front end and square off a couple of other curves like the front and rear end. Not sure what that would look like though. I'll play around with the concept. Just looking for feedback, maybe a mashup photo.
good news for you: You can put a copyrighted car on to the mod repo, just remember to remove the branding/badging
That is good news, but the idea of a fictional vehicle is growing on me. I want to create something unique, as I am an artist.
Possible solution. Do the real car first, with branding and badging intact. Supposedly, you can still put in the forum this way. (I may cry IRL if this turns out not to be the case). Then, make some kind of original car or variant of an official one. Spike the in-game statistics and information (and, if possible, the files themselves; anywhere where you can guarantee people will see it) of this car with advertisements and URLs for the real car. Also, create (if possible) a forum thread with all your real-life cars in one place, then give it top billing in your signature. That way, those who like your work will be able to find it all, without having to (metaphorically) rip the forum apart thread by thread with their teeth. Of course, I myself would probably chafe at sticking advertisements for my other mods all over my mods, since, if I had the game and some modelling skill, my objective would be to make my mods, be they real cars or originals, look like something that legitimately could have come with the game. Still, it's one possible way (probably not the best way, but it's 2:07 AM and I can't brain anymore) to make a real car with branding intact and still retain some visibility.
could you do a nissan silvia s13 coupe? maybe have a stock version with a few body kits and a offroad version sort of like this: this is a s15 not a s13
I would maybe stick with ETK because they are basically an off brand BMW in my eyes, Porsche and BMW are both german I think it will be cool. I also might suggest use the Bolide frame as a starting point as it is Rear engined, similar to the 959, and has Rally variants and a similar size. Then you can focus on the shell and make it the centerpiece.
I hope the suspension on the 959 doesn't give you as much trouble as the Suzuki did, if it turns out to be tricky try to use the Bolide's suspension as a starter... And if you want some sounds to go with it, PM me Btw you can probably call it (you can change it all you want ofc) the ETK W(Wind) Series i thind it'd fit...
I might be able to hack up my own sound files, but yeah the suspension is even more complicated on the 959 for the mesh. But the JBeams will be simpler which is what I need right now.
Great. Good to know its going "well", already said it, but i'll spam again if you want some cool/nice sounds PM me!! Or even help with engine tuning tell me!!
the 959 twin turbo 2.85 liter. I already have it all modeled out. Maybe I'll add in bigger turbos idk.
V6? V8? V10? Flat 4? Flat 6? I asked for the type but thanks for the displacement (2.8L) and the induction type (Twin Turbo). I'll make it happen nonetheless...
