I remember how i watched NerdCubed play beamng and then go and download 0.3 from a shady website. It took me all the way until 0.9 to buy the game on steam, and i regret every day pirating it for that long. Probably your theories are right, being 0.1 CryEngine and 0.2 early Torque3D.
Dang take me back, First day the techdemo released I was yup I need to buy it now.. No waiting lol. to fastspring I went. Guys from the old RoR forum: remember when we were trying to figure out the name of this mysterious new game? Often referred to as "RoR 2.0" That was around late 2012. (Before the big, reveal and the forum opening up) I had my original BNG forum account from late 2012 but I lost access to it.
From what I'm seeing, it looks like .1 and .2 are not public releases. I bought the game mid 2016, so I think that may have been version .8 or something like that.
I remember that... we were so confused... we knew something was going on, but we didn't know what at first. Then the rumor train started to go haywire as we got teases from Tdev that they were working on something "big"
I know that. Not so appealing right now, but it was hot shit back in 2012. I remember people posting it as GTA V footage.
Early videos on the Beamng YouTube channel might give some idea. The first ten videos predate the initial alpha release. This is the first one, and because it comes before the "new vehicles" video, it confirms the D-series as the first car in-game.
There looks to be alot more flex in the d15's frame then there ever was as far as I can remember (mid 2014) Also, look at that UI at 1:51 nothing like we've ever seen. And what does that human Icon mean in the bottom left corner?
i got my game before pigeon came out. I remember covet's old 5 spoke race/rally wheels, when H45 had a super shaky speedometer and when small island was all in yellow dry plants. oh yeah I also bought it on this webpage for 11 euros (now its on steam for roughly over 20 euros)
I got my game after I got my first desktop PC in May 2015, which was a piece of crap. I could only run 1 car, and played on extremely low graphics, but damn it was fun nonetheless. Nowadays, I can spawn in more than 1 car, and it's a lot different than it was a few years back.
Man this thread brings back memories. I remember when I got the techdemo, not realizing that it didn't have the "newly released" moonhawk and being disappointed by the D-Series. I bought the game pre-steam release, before the Sunburst and T-Series came out. OT: 0.3 was the first public version of the game.
I know it's off-topic, but wow someone needs to remake Small Island looking like the one in the video. That actually looks beautiful. To be honest, even the map showing everything. And I can't be the only one that sees "Spintires" In the older hud.
