If you don't know what that sign means, you won't understand it. Dual monitor, the second one is only 1280x1024, that's why the screenshot has that black bar.
Fun fact, resistors have a different circuit symbol on the UK science syllabus. Dunno why. They just do.
Even though they may be accepted by most people, if i had used that squiggly one on my exams it would have been marked wrong. They are trying to switch people to the box like symbol.
One plus I will give to the box symbol we use, you can write the resistance directly onto it quite clearly rather than off to one side, or if you want to be really fancy you could even draw the resistor colour bands onto it
I tend to write the resistance inside the box when possible. It makes my life a bit easier. Then again i haven't really done much in the ways of electronics recently. My current desktop: 1920x1080 + 1680x1050 (hence black bar)
