Hello, I would like to make a mod : a terrain moulding of this 3D model posted here https://www.beamng.com/threads/for-the-new-upcoming-race-update.7399/?p=96583&viewfull=1#post96583 (post #19). I have already started to see if I could use the "roads_tutorial_v2" from LJFHutch to mould the track and it's sides onto a heightmap of the corresponding area from terrain.party. It's almost working perfectly (the asphalt splat rendered has a missing segment of the track). So : do I need permission from the creator of the 3D model ? If yes, is it rFactor or dkutch ? I can't seem to be able to contact dkutch anyway. Thanks !
The 3D model you are referring is the roads_tutorial_v2 file? If yes, then not needed. That file is exactly there to help you guys with modding
Thanks for the the answer but the file I'm referring to is this one : http://www.mediafire.com/download/rrf21ywo6c45d5y/Nordschleife.zip It would not be present in the mod as I would be "just" moulding the terrain with it (by the mean of the roads_tutorial_v2 blend setup). Hence the question : is permission required in this case ?
Well, I've ask directly the current authors of the model DJC and Tosch (as it's ongoing for 15 years apparently) on the mod hosting website https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/nordschleife2-v2-30.44793/ I'm waiting on an answer from the GP track author (mianiak on the same website), or any objection from previous authors, and I'll create the mod thread along with a "preview release".
