Has there been any input from the mods as to a possible server-side hack? --- Post updated --- I pulled this from Indonesian Wikipedia "Tokopedia is an Indonesian technology company. 2] ]To date, Tokopedia is one of the most visited marketplaces by the people of Indonesia.[4] Tokopedia also supports Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and individuals to develop their business by marketing products online with the Government and other parties. One of the collaboration programs initiated by Tokopedia is the annual MAKERFEST event held since March 2018. On May 17, 2021, Tokopedia and Gojek announced the official merger and formed the GoTo Group. 6] The name GoTo itself comes from the abbreviations Gojek and Tokopedia and also comes from the word gotong-royong with a mission to drive change.[7]] In 2023, Tokopedia has empowered more than 14 million registered sellers, offering more than 40 digital products that can make life easier, and have more than 1.8 billion registered products."
So TOKOPEDIA is a indonesian fake temu , wish , shein or whatever you want to call it --- Post updated --- I translated what they are saying : To contact Tokopedia services via WA 62821-7477-3572, you can follow the Tokopedia service
something interesting finally happens on the forums after like three months of tumbleweed-ass nothing
dramas became so common here that people find these incidents interesting, wow... damn I wish a meteorite fell down on this forum, that would be actually interesting
when this happened last time, in a discord server someone said that it might be using this as SEO positioning so when you google something related to that their message appears last time it was abortion pills :
Doing SEO the 2005 way, as if Google never did anything against it lmao At best, whoever gets those links will see a tiny bump in link juice (that's a real term), but Google will filter them out real quick. At worst, the site will get a manual penalty – not sure they care though Spoiler Source: I do SEO (among others) for a living.
even if it probably doesnt even work, they think it works and they do it what are they getting out of this otherwise, especially since the forums is in english, not in any of those languages the spam posts have been in
We got a what, and now we have a potential why. Now we need to figure out the how; I think that some service (might not even be BeamNG's fault) got breached, it's really odd that accounts that have few posts, join dates 2021-2023 and little use/abandoned getting hacked, it's like carcasses that randomly turned into rogue AGIs obsessed with Whatsapp.
Crappy marketing agencies make their own accounts in advance so that they mature and are less suspicious when they get activated for a specific client. I really doubt there was any breach. Rather, cheap labor (likely also automated) was used to create those accounts on high potential websites (which can be easily found with tools like Ahrefs or even basic Google Search knowledge). So, instead of some malevolent AI story, we got a sad story about scummy agencies outsourcing manual labor for a service that benefits nobody but the agency. Considering that this forum is set up on a rather archaic software, we'll have to deal with such practices still. Baking in proper proper anti-spam features on modern-day web level would require rebuilding the entire thing from the ground up. Back in the wild west era of internet, Google didn't care about languages or other boring stuff. A link was a link. Today, Google doesn't outright ignore irrelevant links, but the value is tiny, if any. The thing is, those links are usually cheap compared to proper white hat link building, so if you are low on budget and don't care about long-term problems (because you're planning to fold your scam site in three months from now anyway) you may still get some profit from doing it.
