I'm now at 4GHz (stock 3.3). Wouldn't ya know it, the Moonhawk runs so much better in Beam! Best free performance upgrade ever.
Just traded for that Alienware turns out it had an i7 740qm 1.73ghz max turbo at 2.93ghz. Has a crucial 240gb ssd that's a month old. The graphics card in it was replaced for a new 260m under warranty so a lot it new and strong. I'm happy Sent through the stars by my Galaxy with a Note for you!
Wow, turning on my igpu added a lot of power to my 4670k. Now I hit 90w and power throttle in beamng. :|
I have 3 laptops: 1 from 1986, IBM 5140, 4.7MHz 80c88 processor, 640kb ram, 2 floppy drives no harddrives 1 from 1999, MicronPC Transport GX+, 650MHz Pentium 3, 512mb ram, 1 cd rom and 1 floppy drive, 20gb hdd <--actually i replaced the cd rom with a dvd rw from a friends trashed mac mini, so theres no physical eject button 1 from 2005, DELL Inspiron 2200, 1.5 GHz CeleronM, 1.23gb ram, dvd rom, 80gb hdd <--replaced the 60gb one with 80gb from the mac mini too woo --ill trade for your alienware ^^
Any suggestions on how to get this Alienware to run cooler? I put arctic silver 5 on the cpu and gpu and cleaned out the heat sinks. That helped a ton. Laptop when it's running cool can actually play grid map well. Like 30+fps playable! as soon as it gets a little hot though it gets choppy.. I don't feel like buying a laptop cooling pad but if I have to what would you guys recommend? Sent through the stars by my Galaxy with a Note for you!
Woo, Got a new laptop! Portable BeamNG i74700mq @ 2.4ghz 16gb @1600mhz (2x8gb) Nvidia 765m 1920x1080 14" screen it's an Alienware 14
Bragger >. > my Alienware is so slow lol... It can handle beamng and that's about it. Sent through the stars by my Galaxy with a Note for you!
I know this lol. I was always bias against owning an Alienware. But I got to say. They are built really well for your money worth at least. This m15x is relatively easy to work on. Sent through the stars by my Galaxy with a Note for you!
One plate covers everything on mine, havent opened it yet, hoping to throw a 250gb msata drive in it, lightning boot times since its windows 8.1 I was told about their recent increase in quality by a friend, if I wasnt told by him I wouldnt have bought one as they used to have a lot reliability and quality issues from what I heard.
My m15x is actually like a 2009 model and honestly I love the build quality so much I kinds want to completely strip it down and rebuilt it for fun. And yeah same for mine. The one lever u push and the whole underside slides off exposing the cooling for the gpu and cpu. Wish I could find some upgrades for this thing. Cooling wise.
your laptop will run cooler if you trade for my IBM, it runs very cool and its completely silent (no fans) --except for the floppy drives, but thats only when you access them
OK, so being shipped to me right now is a Hyper 212 Evo and another stick of RAM for my rig. Gonna be fun.
As long as it's rated the same as the original set he bought and it's a reputable brand, that's not a problem. In fact it's never really been a problem. If you put ram in that's slower than another set of ram, your PC will just run it at the slowest ram's specs.
different latencies can throw things off, but most RAM is near enough identical on that front anyway.
Hum. I repasted my heatsink and now my load temps have gotten all funny. 100% non-AVX load my temps went from 75/75/75/75 to 70/70/70/64. If I could get all the other cores to follow core #4 I'd be able to push my oc a lot further.
I've heard de-lidding can help your temps enormously... but idk if you'd want to risk ruining your CPU by doing that.
Trying to sell the Alienware now. Found a Asus g74sx i7 2630m 560m Nvidia 12gb of ram. Guy wants 200$ for it. Needs DC plug replaced and adapter. If it is fried oh well I can part it for what I pay for it.
I still have my temps reach 70c and above on an aftermarket cooler... I don't get the reviews on amazon calling this a "cool runner" pfft
