Incompatible Software

Some programs running in background could affect the game's correctly functionality and could cause:

  • Crashes
  • Freezes
  • Certain features or parts of the not working correctly

Below is a list of programs known to have compatibility issues with BeamNG.drive.

 BitDefender

Problems:
  • Unability to launch the game in 64-bit mode.
  • Failed to write ShaderStream errors when loading a level.
Solution:
  • This app may be interfering with the game’s operation. Please contact the software manufacturer for assistance.

 MSI Gaming App

Problem:
  • Could cause the game to render a purple triangle across the screen.
Solution:
  • Disable the In-game Overlay option within the program.

 Gigabyte App Center

Problems:
  • May cause UI has stopped responding error & crash
Solution:
  • Uninstall the software

 Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.x & 2

Problem:
  • Game crash, SDHook64.dll appears in the details.
Solution:
  • A number of reports suggest that reinstalling this software solves the issue.

 Easy-Hide-IP

Problem:
  • Game crash, HMIPCore64.dll appears in the details.
Solution:
  • Uninstall the software and verify that the above DLL is removed from C:\Windows\System32.

 SafeIP

Problem:
  • Game crash, SafeIPs64.dll appears in the details.
Solution:
  • Uninstall the software and verify that the above DLL is removed from C:\Windows\System32.

 Identity Cloaker

Problem:
  • Game crash, ICProxy64.dll appears in the details.
Solution:
  • Uninstall the software and verify that the above DLL is removed from C:\Windows\System32.

 EZFRD64.dll

This file comes with different programs, like MotionJoy, some cheap wheels drivers and some Mayflash products drivers. Known to cause crashes in several games.

Problem:
  • Game crash, EZFRD64.dll appears in the details.
Solution:
  • Uninstall eventual software and/or remove the above DLL from C:\Windows\USB_Vibration (Path may vary).

Problem:
  • Could block the game from launching, or freeze randomly.
Solution:

 IOBit Malware Fighter

Problem:
  • Could block the game from launching, or accessing its own files.
Solution:
  • This app may be interfering with the game’s operation. Please contact the software manufacturer for assistance.

 Trend Micro Security

Problem:
  • Could cause the User Interface to not run properly.
Solution:
  • This app may be interfering with the game’s operation. Please contact the software manufacturer for assistance.

 Windows Defender

Problem:
  • In rare cases Windows Defender may cause conflicts with the game.
Solution:

This app may be interfering with the game’s operation. Please try these steps:

  • Open Windows settings → Windows Security → Open Windows Security → Virus & Threat Protection → Virus & Threat Protection updates and click Check for updates
  • Run a scan on your device
  • Then verify Integrity of Game Files
  • If the issue persists, please contact the software manufacturer for assistance.

 OneDrive (Windows 10)

If OneDrive integration is enabled in Windows 10, the Documents folder becomes a synced cloud folder, which could cause Problems if the game is using the default User folder location.

Problem:
  • In rare cases, it could block the game from accessing the default User folder location, making impossible to save settings, mods and so on.
Solution:
  • Disable the Controlled Folder Access option within the software (usually disabled by default).
Try using a different location for your user folder. To do so, use Launcher > Manage Userfolder > Change Location, and then select a different folder that does not require special permissions (for example C:\BeamNG.drive)

 MSI Afterburner / RivaTuner

Problem:
  • Could cause crashes in rare cases.
Solution:
  • Make sure the software is up to date or disable it.

 AsusTek Sonic Sound Suite

Problems:
  • Could cause crashes in rare cases.
  • Crashes when generating licence plates
Solution:

Disable those application from launch (Task Manager -> Startup) :

  • SVLoadSense
  • SS2UILauncher

Make sure this service is not running (Task Manager -> Processes):

  • SS2Svc32
  • SS2Svc64

 Omen Gaming Hub

Problem:
  • Can drastically reduce framerate by limiting the amount of CPU cores used by games
Solution:

Try disabling Processor Core Affinity option if it was enabled.

 Lavasoft

What is Lavasoft?

Lavasoft is a company that produces Spyware and Malware detection softwares. They are known to hide their software into third-party installers, thus reaching unwilling users in the same way used by the malware they claim to fight Lavasoft’s Wikipedia article

Problem:
  • BeamNG.Drive warning about Lavasoft software

  • Why is the game warning me about it?

As BeamNG.Drive uses an User Interface based on CEF (Chromium Embedded Framework), it may be seen as a web browser.

The Lavasoft software tends to hook into other programs, especially browsers. When it hooks into BeamNG.Drive, it causes the UI to work incorrectly, showing only a black screen.

In some cases, it may just make the game hang on a Waiting UI screen, and then make it crash.

  • Why does the game run in 32-bit mode now?

Due the ‘unwanted’ presence of this software on many PCs, BeamNG added a fallback to prevent this software breaking the UI.

This fallback makes the game run in 32-bit mode, which seems to avoid issues caused by Lavasoft.

The game will warn you about it, as 32-bit software is limited to 4GB of RAM only. Using more complex maps may result in out of memory errors.

Solution:

How can I remove it?

  • Method 1

    • To remove this software check if it appears in your Installed Programs list. If it does, uninstall it from there. If the problem persists, see the method below.

  • Method 2

    • Sometimes the software isn’t listed on Installed Programs, or Uninstalling it may not solve the issue. In this case, deleting LavasoftTcpService64.dll located in C:\Windows\System32 will solve the issue permanently.
    • This file doesn’t belong to Windows, so it’s relatively safe to remove it, especially if you haven’t installed the software by yourself.

  • What if the file is in use by some program?

In some cases, if you try to delete the .dll file manually, you may get a message telling you that’s not possible because the file is in use. That means that some program in your PC is currently using that file.

There isn’t an exact solution to this. But you could try the following:

  • Boot Windows in Safe Mode and then try to remove the .dll
  • Use some anti-malware software
