so i gave this a poke on italy a few days ago before this recent update, and i was under the impression that it would spawn cars to allow you to quickly populate a map. i parked a bit behind a 4way intersection to allow them to randomly go in any direction they chose. but instead i found that they just kept respawning at it and making the same turns over and over again. is this by design, or was that a bug that's now fixed?
Because 99.9% of people wouldn't be able to run something like that, the AI instead populates the area around you by teleporting around your area/infront of you. You can lessen or turn this off with the Respawn Rate, 2 being the highest and more likely you'd see one of the vehicles. So putting it on 0 means the AI will never respawn. So basically, the more vehicles, the more variation in AI. Also, just leaving and rejoining the game seemed to add the UI update to the app, no cache clearing needed.
pretty sure i tried setting to 0 but the arrow button wouldnt let it go below 1 but i will try again.
The update came out today or yesterday, so might need to either clear cache or just exit and reenter beam. This wasn't a thing before this update.
Traffic spawning will work best if you're driving around, even at low speeds. I did adjust the algorithm so that vehicles would have a longer "uptime" and respawn a bit later. This makes Respawn Rate (1) weaker than the old version, so try different values and see what you like.
Definitely one of my favorite mods ever, really well done mod. I did notice one bug though, when spawning 30 cars most of them end up spawning inside of each other on spawn and destablising. It works fine once you manually go through and move them apart though. (most of the cars are invisible due to the instabilities but it seems like maybe 2-3 are ovelapping each other in a row.
'30 cars' jeez ok- im not sure its made for that many- especially the map you're using has very limited roads for the AI to spawn cars on.
Spawning 30 cars at the same time can work in some cases and fail crazily in other cases. My math for the spawn point coordinates is correct, but there is either a bug with the game's "autoplace()" function or something deep in the code stops working entirely while the game is frozen trying to figure out what is going on. I've noticed that "autoplace()" can mess up in normal situations, sometimes spawning vehicles under the roads. I don't really have a fix for that right now.
Ah, thats fair enough not much you can do in that case. Also, yeah I know its not exactly too important or practical to spawn 30, I did try a few maps but I was really just giving it a go for the fun of it, 13fps could be worse i guess
Wow, the update is good. Two lane wide traffic is excellent in Italy. As a bonus, I tried a semi with a trailer as part of the AI, and it actually works (for the most part). It no longer prempitively pauses physics when a new truck is spawned. You can drive around just fine and see new truck/trailers drive by. But, say you crash and when you respawn your own car, then physics are paused.
NIce work with the latest update! I love how they now turn on lights when it gets dark. By the way, did my PM with the color bug help?
HI Gamergull Loving the app, causing utter carnage on virtual roads has never been so much fun. Thought I would share 3 simple ideas I have to improve the app (at least for me) and are quite easy to do (at least for you lol). 1. Option to turn off feature where hazard lights come on and damaged vehicles stop driving (this is for using it for banger racing on a short circuit) 2. Keep the previous settings from last time the app was used (to save setting them each time) could be map specific maybe 3. Option to keep AI cars on road instead of offroad (otherwise they turn off a lot/pop out from random tracks which is annoying sometimes)
Yeah, for now, I can add those vehicles to my police table. Thanks! I'd like to add a "Racer" mode that could be applied to individual vehicles, but for now, you're better off not using the traffic app for races (Edit: On second thought, I could do a quick implementation to keep damaged cars moving if you want.). The saved settings feature would be on the Angular / JS side, and I'm awful at those compared to Lua. The road option, I can't really do at the moment; traffic literally uses the Random AI mode path planning, and I don't see a way around it, unless I made my own path planning extension (possibly time consuming!). Anyways, looks like there's a shift of priorities for me. Something to do with making traffic a more official thing? Hmm . I'm really taking the developer route now, and I'm gonna take this concept further than I imagined. I don't even know what to expect in the short term. I'll post later about whether this mod's updates are within the scope here.
I just installed this mod and I am already extremely impressed. I still have a lot of stuff to figure out but I noticed that when I turn on the lights in a police vehicle the AI will stop if I am behind them. That is great attention to detail and I can't wait to use this mod more. Great work!
STAFF MEMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hurray!!!! HIP HIP HORRAY! Dis gon be good. So....what's in like on the inside?
