Some people don't like surprises, some do.

Even I would like to know all the new things in advance and it is fun to speculate about what will be in coming updates, I still think that it is much more fun to not really know and then explore new stuff when having the update.

It is like traveling on new road, after each corner you see something familiar, something new and that is quite bit more fun than traveling that same old road to work like every morning.

I did read an article some time ago about small game building house, there was mentioning how building tools that allow to build game content was taking more time than making content itself, it was about Avalanche studios and Just Cause 3, which is the game where content creation took probably a lot more time than in BeamNG and I'm pretty sure developing tools and means in BeamNG takes hugely larger part of time than actual creation of content.

There is difference in milking money with proven concept and pioneering new, I enjoy BeamNG as they really are pioneering new and creating whole new kind of things.

Ok again i have to admit a new car once a year ( how it is so far ) Seems a tad sad. But again feel free to learn J-bean and mesh. and then get paid $30 ( or about that ) pur sale of game. And they are still blessing us.

I am kinda like DOH about the lack of cars as said. But again i see borth sides ( more theres ) Who knows we may get a few different bodies. As if it was based on the Floor pan of the VW. maybe a karmin based and a tiny van. And a few kit car bodys.

it may seem out there, But the Burnside has that leadsled ( I think that what it's called ) And that would take lots of time to 3D model.

Also i think MAYBE on our side maybe show casing the new car Autobello may 2018 should of been around now, As the wait, But i can also say yeah if they did not show it as soon then we may go what the hell is going on. its a hard one.

Anyway there is a Update coming. Even if its small. the new Gavrill V8 engine mesh, The Diesel is coming. hears what B25mich9 sorry if i got you're name wrong ) said....Here's a quick preview of the overhauled Gavril V8 meshes that will be included in the next update:.....

So a new mesh should be out with the update we will see in a few days.

that is something to get my teeth sank into.

If this is not enough pick up a logittech wheel makes the game seem all new

Not sure if it's been mentioned in this thread yet but if you look in the developer microblogs section there is a new/improved Gavril V8 confirmed in next update by B25Mitch

I usually refrain from posting about the development process as the devs are the ones behind it, but I see that many users share some of the same concerns that I have.

So, my main issue with this game is the lack of constant updates.

Now before any of you ask me if I prefer rushed or incomplete updates, or think that I don't care about the hard work and effort the devs go through, of course, I don't want rushed or incomplete updates and I do care about the hard work and effort the devs go through to give us all this content.

An update once a month or every 2 months would be fine with the amount of content they have put in the previous few updates, but when I now have to wait 4 months between updates, ones patience can only last so long. When they were able to update us relatively frequently in the past years but are barely able to do it now, it becomes a bit aggravating and concerning.

Furthermore, I also want to have a balance between consistent updates and an adequate amount of content. Some of you users are acting like we can only have one or the other.

I admit that I would prefer to have a new car or map in updates, but some of you probably think that I'm not interested in the bugfixes, optimisation, or the little things that aren't easily noticeable by the casual player but important, like the small details in simulation and realism that defines BeamNG.drive.

Of course I want the game to be optimised. I want the game to be running smoothly and polished, and at the same time, having a satisfactory amount of content to keep me entertained for a while.

Some of you are also acting that only optimisation and fixes can easily sustain the game itself.
A steady rate of content is also needed to keep this game afloat. People would get bored eventually. I mean, what would be the point of playing an incredibly smooth and polished game when you have little to no and the same old content to play with? I know it's a sandbox game and that there are mods to download but how long can you play with the amount of official content you have?

Of course I want the devs to do what THEY think is best since they are the experts. But with the infrequent amount of updates combined with the low amount of content, I and other users share the same concern about what is going on behind the scenes.

As for the devs announcing that the Autobello and Italy map is not coming soon, I'm disappointed about it, but I appreciate their honesty and it would have saved them alot of trouble than if they were to announce it closely to their next update.

Let me speculate for a bit.
I think we will see more maps and cars getting released when all the game mechanics is added in and working.
(It have to be so much work adding every new feature, then having to go back and add it to every car or map that is alredy made and ingame)
so I believe when all the game features (sound system, graphics and physics) is hammered out and ingame, we will start to see more cars, props and maps comming out.
+ All the modders (me included) do not have to worry about stuff breaking our mods anymore, and it will be a lot safer and fun to make mods when you know what you have to work with.

    Thanks for the feedback guys.

When we work on the game we do see a lot of things happening from our point of view (we have given insights in our latest blog), but we also understand that from your point of view it's 2-3 months in which the game has not changed for you.
The reason for the longer update cycles is that it allows us to keep the game 'broken' for longer, which is common when stuff like sounds, core and other important changes are happening.
As mentioned by Diamondback earlier, when we prepare an update, there's easily two weeks where those changes need to be halted to put everything in a stable condition, finding for new bugs and fix them on repeat.
You'll see how that does not work well with a monthly cycle, and 2 months is also sort of a stretch with certain type of changes.

As for the vehicles, which understandably it's something many of you look for ( who doesn't like new toys to play with :) )
As you know @gabester 's injury got in between, and while he cannot directly work on vehicles, he is playing a fundamental role into managing and directing the work on that side. We have been quite open about this already.
This was quite of a change that broke our rythm there. Some people that previously worked on vehicles are helping with tasks not related to vehicles.
But @CarlosAir and @Falkrum are hard at work on them, and we are certain to see an increase there.

So again, thanks for the inputs Everybody!
We took note of the critical points and will try our best to improve them.

I did count 23 Cars, Trucks and Buses in game currently.

H-series has 2 very different options, T-Series and D-series has two very different lengths available, so that adds lot of variety too.

Indeed, there are then different configuration, which adds variety too.

    Also there are mod vehicles.

There are really a lot of cars, more than one realizes, until you count them all.

Even more will be added, we could try to speculate how many, but there might not be much data available to speculate about.

How many cars Assetto Corsa had when they were out of early access, if you don't count DLC packs? What about variety in those? How about some other games?

I would think that it is not so much of cars themselves, but possibilities to do with the said cars that actually might be what is lacking, but minds are stimulated by new content and true point of what is needed more, can be evading attention here.

That too will improve in future of course, firs pieces of puzzle are needed, then you can start building gameplay.

For example I crafted over 40km long track with track builder, future improvements to track builder might provide quite interesting gameplay, that might be giving more fun in future than few new cars, so while new cars and such are nice, I think that game will be more interesting by some other things added for most that currently feel bored or something.

thats the factor causing me to lose interest in this game quite rapidly. They have a larger team and it feels like, not necessarily the game itself since it's continually getting engine updates and colluding with automation and Audi. There's background work happening a lot. The problem is that whats puzzling me is that back in the day there was Gabester who was making everything himself from scratch we had a nice enough release cycle for vehicles. It picked up significantly for a year when BeamNG picked up people who made amazing mods into their vehicle creation team to work on official content. It killed the modding scene somewhat but that was an acceptable price for me in order to see more official vehicle releases. When that happened, in the space of a single year we got the SBR4, Barstow, both Pessimas, Burnside Special, ETK 800, Miramar, K series, and the I series. A golden age of our vehicle team's production and output.

and then in the space of 1 and a half years we've had the LeGran, Ibishu Hopper and the Wentward. Which is a huge drop in content releases. Hell it would be nice to see some micro jbeam content come up. I like props and things to drive into. Someone could develop a destructable set of kitchen appliances I'd be happy. I just want new stuff to break, which is kind of what the game is about. It's all well and good improving the game, but the content team they have needs to recover and get back to somewhere near it's old release cycle.

With Gabester being injured and the team getting shrunk a little I don't expect to see 8 vehicles per year. But It would be nice to see it come back by even 2 thirds of that figure. 3 in one and a half years is a horriffic drop in productivity. I think Gabester on his own managed to outpace that.

I think I saw something to do with Audi the last time I looked at all this. My memory could very well be serving me wrongly. but I'm sure at some point Audi was involved.

There is nearly always something to do in beamng I've been playing it for years and I still find new things, try the maps you play the least to explore new areas, try to beat old times on your races, drift on top of the skyscrapers on WCUSA if you want a new level of excitement while doing something. There is a whole slew of things that you can do and try you just gotta think outside the box a bit and you'll find it. I've recently have been making my own cars that do what I want them to and even made a working drift pigeon that is pretty nice. I still love this game because I can do what I want when I want and how I want and that's the whole basis and idea behind it. Also I still wanna get confirmation on if they are doing something with Audi cause if they are I honestly would love that.

I believe the Audi partnership is strictly some sort of AI development contract with BeamNG as a tech company, not as a game company.

PS: Collude probably isn’t the right word choice for the contract, unless my conspiracy theory about BeamNG actually being a deep state data mining company was correct. I would link that but I can’t actually find it, I think that comment got deleted o_O

As for content lately: In terms of development, I can see the logic in getting the “alpha release” stuff like physics and UI out of the way before bringing in more content. However, from a business standpoint content really should be a higher priority. A steady stream of content is necessary for the long term health of the community and therefore the game by keeping customer interest.

Unrelated topic: I know there are a couple of older threads talking about an ECUSA rework request, but I don't feel like bumping them so I'm just going to stick this in here: There is an old mod called UKR that is just a dirt track yet it's honestly my favorite mod map by far. I love dirt racing and think that it is a lot of fun in BeamNG, even if it isn't up to Richard Burns Rally levels at the moment (I really hope it does get up there someday). I was incredibly disappointed when the dirt oval didn't make it into the final version of WCUSA. ECUSA could certainly use some more locations of interest and has multiple random open spaces where one could fit.

they should make a heavy rally map that is mostly wooded dirt roads, however I think Italy might be like that so there's a little hope it's also supposed to be massive so we could maybe get a 5-7 minute rally stage that would be super fun, another map idea to put out is just a mountain side/base that could be great for rally or hill climbs and in fact I might make that into a map once I learn the editor better since that honestly sounds like a ton of fun. But if they were to make one of those huge mountain rally maps then it would have to be realistic and not like Altitude, while also keeping complexity in route choice unlike the Australia map that was released on the mod page.
The map wouldn't have to be huge either and could probably be completed in just a month or two after Italy and be at the same quality. I'm excited for the update and feel like when it is released it'll be good and this halloween update might also be good. This is an early access game and it's in early access for a reason. When the game gets released then it'll be more content focused, but as of now the engine still needs some work and along with that they're working on bugs. I'm happy to see them still working on it and doing decent, a lot of early access games (Ex The Isle) have a lackluster team that doesn't really try to work on their games and update their games in similar time frames however they have half as much content and twice the bugs. I'm proud of the dev team for Beamng as they deliver solid content and at the same time give us quality and when something is broken they fix it. These next few updates we're getting in early 2019 and late 2018 are probably going to be nice and I just wanna see what they think is nice for the community.

Italy will be 4x the size of the next largest map by area IIRC. Judging by the amount of dirt roads in the screenshots, it will be great for rally racing and driving a diesel D-Series through vineyards.

exactly I'm okay with the wait time because I want the quantity and the quality and honestly it looks like it'll be super fun. Jumping a roamer into a vineyard and then running through it while being chased by some tiny little police cars and then hopping onto a road that leads to a small village where your car barely fits into the alleyways and then leaving back into the country side again. That is worth the wait ten fold. I really love the Italian map idea and I can wait for its release because it looks like it's going to be tons of fun.
