Early Experimental Preview of Career Concept

    The unique cargo delivery is being worked on at this very moment - ability to show up to a location, and select a trailer/load rather than just filling cargo boxes. This falls in line with our plans for staged-building; bring wood, pipes, etc to a location to build a new facility and provide further gameplay.

    I like the idea of bulky cargo with pre-defined/fenced routes, a sort of "extra wide load" delivery type. At the moment, there are no plans from the vehicle side to provide this sort of gameplay, but it's the perfect opportunity for the modding community to jump on!

    Hey James, any plans on adding a Sell all Inventory button in the parts menu? And by inventory I obviously mean the disattached parts. And have a sub menu option where you can see the parts of a selected car including the inventory parts that fit that particular car.

    Heya @Dako great question, and I'm happy to say that there are lots of planned improvements for the parts menu, including the ability to "sell all" or multi-select parts you want to sell all at once! These same improvements (basic functionality of the system really) include viewing inventory parts for a particular car.

    Once we move into the parts management side of development, you will soon find that you may end up with 4 hoods, 8 doors, 12 sets of wheels, etc etc and will want to sell most of the parts off for some extra crash for a new car, tune, or more!

    Rest assured, the parts management tech is at a bare-minimum at the moment and not indicative at all of planned functionality in any way! :)

    I really like the career mode. After having played almost all scenarios and what the Main Menu has to offer it started to feel a little bit senseless and empty. Carreer mode puts in a purpose to the game. I have almost made 50k at this point and catched me sitting at work planing what to do with the money. Upgrade my car? get a new one? Maybe buy a truck and get into delivery business? Yep thats fun and how a game should do. Also I like how easy transport missions are fullfilled. After all the driving it is really nice to just hit the target parking spot and "Ka-CHing" Mission completetd! Nice!
    But please don't make it to easy, I am really not a fan of casual gaming and I don't think the community of BeamNG is also into that kind of experience.
    There is a few things according to UI and some missing "Back" button when checking carreer stats, but those are very minor and I am shure You developers are working hard on them.
    Permanent damage and the insurance System are great and give a nice layer to the game. Also I like how the repaired parts are with basic colors, so You see how much of Your car is still original.
    As a conclusion I would say keep it up, it is on a very right way. But let it take as long as possible in the development process. As long as I know that my progress can be lost because of a new version, I am fine with that, because I know it is for good reasons.

    It's the bestest news for any beam.ng thread. Plus this is the only thread, that I can think of offhand, where the devs regularly respond. Kudos to them BTW...

    I get lua error when loading career.
    Already tried deep cache cleaning (with all mods disabled), redownloading lua folder. Error doesn't appear in safe mode.

    Also other problems I encountered (possibly related to lua/mods?)

    Delivery dropoff/facilities sometimes not appearing (truck/labourer tab in map view)

    Urgent cargo timer frozen (only happened once, save affected permanently)(won't count progress towards unlocking precious cargo)

    note: mods I used aren't related to/don't seem to modify official content in any obvious way.

    Now I see a serious problem with fuel in game. I have some suggestion to fix this:
    1. I think current fuel spending can be multiplied by 2, because for now Is too low (vehicle will destroy/changed earlier then fuel go to end).
    2. add more "fast ravel" markers on map, but take pay for using (in liters for km).
    3. also need indicator that show how many gallon using vehicle for 100km. This parameter can be different if players enable/disable AWD, vehicle weight change, damage engine (no need to do some complex system, just add small multiply on default vehicle parameters, for now it will be an ought)
    4. also, truck must spend much more fuel (but pay more for cargo)

    with this small changes, "gas station refuel" and "vehicle fuel management" gameplay will be very interesting

    That was a lovely message to read through, thank you @RenderRito for taking the time to express your thoughts and experiences so far! I'm excited for you to keep experiencing more as we get it developed, stay tuned!

    These issues have been noted, sorry that you're experiencing them. As for the big red lua issue, that's strange that it isn't happening in safemode for you - that removes all mods and ensures a vanilla experience - but I'll make sure we take a second and third look into it for you!

    Although I agree it takes a while to go through fuel, we are going to keep it at a realistic burn rate. The entire simulation is based on as many true-to-life elements that we can manage, and fuel energy is certainly one of them! We will not be changing this in any significant way, as to remain true to BeamNG's core vehicle dynamics. If someone wants to burn through fuel faster, an option would be to only refuel 50% or 20% or less to create more need to refill ;)

    absolutely enjoying the current state of the career mode rn, already did all different missions at least once and delivered almost 900 parcels! this is so much fun, can't wait to see what's next :cool:

    This sounds pretty great! How about vehicle delivery missions for truck with a rollback or trailer?

    We're moving in the same direction with the trailers! Currently, we're lacking some tech to properly secure vehicles to trailers, but that hasn't slowed us down before. When we reach that stage, we'll reassess and strive for a solution that meets our standards! For now, delivery gameplay will involve a range of tasks: transporting vehicles (similar to garage-to-garage trips), delivering parcels as already implemented, hauling trailered goods like fuel and hazardous materials, and the overall progression of the delivery gameplay itself.
