ETK 500 series just sounds right for a smaller modern family car.

    Honestly, I'd still want a carbureted I-Series.

while I don't like carbs, a pre facelift one based on the 70s 5 series would be cool

due to the 900 existing as a large car like the 6gc/cls , the 800 as a midsize like a 4gc/3er, 700 is probably the name for a 1 series equivalent because the devs decided that they would put the 800 right at the end as a compact sedan which doesnt make sense, so it takes up the missing space of the i series, which is probably its predecessor in lore like the audi a4 is a 100 successor

    A smaller E30/190E/90 sized car would be fine with a 1.6 I4/2.0 I5/2.4 I6 engine lineup, maybe a 1.8 I4 in the middle.
An E30-sized car could be made fairly easily with the I-series parts, and that could come with it's own compact model.

Considering nomenclature, I think that "I-series" doesn't really hold up. I think they definitely had a Merc-esque displacement naming system up to the 90s with letters only for flagship and specialty models and those letters staying around after the 90s restructuring. The "I-series" was as we can see 2000/2400/3000, then hypothetically the larger car S3000/S5600etc, the grand tourer R3000/R4500, and so on. The only problem would be with the sub-I-series model. BMW and Audi had D-seg cars since the 60s and their naming was suited to it. Merc didn't, so when the 190E came out, different engines were 190E 2.3, 190E 2.5, etc. so ETK could do it that way, but IDK. I've never thought of other ways that the 800-series system could work, I always just had it as a BMW kind of system in my head.

I agree, as mentioned, ETK looks like a mixture of EUDM and USDM in particular the bumpers, they are clearly of European design, but they are too protruding. I hope that when the remaster is released, they will divide it into EUDM and USDM, like the Civetta Bolide, and add the accordion bumpers that I mentioned in my suggestions for the remaster.

imo it should go like this
1800 with carb 1.8 in early versions
    1800i with f.i. in late versions with 1.8 i4
    2400i with a 2.4 inline six
    2400 carb six
    2500td turbo diesel 6
    2500tds sport version
3000i for range topper "regular versions"
    4000i TTSport with 4.0 V8 (sort of a 500E)
and a homoligation 1800 for racing

You can't imagine how I'm waiting for the developers to say, "Hey guys, we're making a remaster of the I-Series." I hope it will be soon.

Yes, this is my favorite car in the game, if I just want to ride the maps, I take I Series. I even created a paper model of it, somewhere here there should be a publication in the creativity section dedicated to BeamNG Drive

(I cross my fingers that the next car in line for the remaster is the I-Series).
By the way, did you also notice that remastered cars began to be divided into specifications for the USA and the country of manufacture? (Except for those cars that were manufactured in the USA) I am almost sure that after the remaster of the I-Series we will get EUDM and USDM.

When the I-Series gets remastered, apart from more engines (namely a 2.0 I4, a 2.0 I6, 2.0 I4 and 3.0 I6 turbodiesels and a small V8), I'd love it to also get the characteristic non-foldable mirrors (made possible by a small spring inside the mirrors), found in the old Mercedes-Benz models. The new mirror features have a lot of potential!
