Either one or the other. If the CVT was meant to have an S mode, they would've just given it the other shifter that has it. But since they made another shifter that doesn't have it, it's likely the CVT wasn't meant to have it.

And yeah, it's baffling there's no 6 speed for the performance models.

I have seen similar damage from 64 km/h 25-ish percent offset test as shown here: upload_2025-4-7_23-44-12.png
The unrealistic thing here is that the shotgun structure doesn't fully deform. In huge majority of real cars, they fully deform.

    2014 Corolla IIHS
    upload_2025-4-8_0-1-47.png
    2013 Kia Soul IIHS
    upload_2025-4-8_0-18-40.png
Small Offset crashes when introduced were so tough for cars because they would bypass the main rail structure that would deform in older frontal tests. This would probably happen to the Sunburst too if it were a real car. It wouldn't be unrealistic to think that a car released in 2009 would have the same structural design considerations as those that don't do well in real Small Offset tests. Before this test was introduced the toughest frontal test would be the 40 percent offset test which was introduced for at least 12 years before 2009.
Another unrealistic aspect of the Sunburst is how it deforms in 56 km/h full frontal crashes:
    upload_2025-4-8_0-44-24.png
I don't remember a real car of similar years that deforms the cabin in this test. Here are some examples:
    upload_2025-4-8_0-54-28.png
    2008 Scion XB
    upload_2025-4-8_1-1-3.png
    2004 Prius
    upload_2025-4-8_1-10-20.jpeg
How this car deforms is among many strength inaccuracies of the game. Many cars are way too strong, some old cars do better than new ones. As a crash testing enjoyer it would be awesome to see BeamNG cars deforming like real cars.

I love the new update! I've been waiting for a Sunburst remaster for many years, and now I'm happy to see that it got overhauled! :D
Anyway, I'd like to suggest a few things, though:
    • The wagon could definitely benefit from some improvements. Personally, I'm not a fan of how the Sunburst wagon looks, but at the same time, I don't mind quirky cars.
    • A sunroof would be nice to have.
    • Removable side markers, as well as clear ones.
    • RHD JDM and UKDM configs. I understand they weren't included due to time constraints, but it's a bit odd to see a Japanese car without JDM models.
    • Optimisation.
Other than that, you've done a great work, mates! :D

I hope they add this in the small updates they release after announcing a new version.

Found another small detail I believe it's in need of fixing: the factory Infotainment System should have the Hirochi brand logo shown on its screen instead of the BeamNavigator one, since it's a factory-installed unit and not an aftermarket one, like the actual BeamNavigator mounted on the windshield (and on the dashboard, in front of the center left air vent) is.
And this is also true of the Aurata navigation system.
I mean, the SBR4/ESBR have the Hirochi logo on their screen, even if it's got the absolute wrong aspect ratio and looks quite a bit squished from side to side! :p

Interesting detail: the font used on the radio buttons in the Sunburst appears to be Gill Sans, whereas the font on Subaru radios of the period is Futura. They thought we would never notice... Insert "literally unplayable" joke here.
In all seriousness, this is probably due to Futura being a licenced font, and Gill Sans comes with Windows computers. They sure do look similar!

Just wanted to say the detail and polish on the new sunburst is impressive. I appreciate the small details like adding fuel cells, the roll cages fit and detail, things like fuses on the race dash, finally getting a fuel door. Can’t please everybody with styling choices but I see and the effort and attention to detail and it’s definitely a new standard for vehicle quality

the damage from the crashes has changed, the car doesn't deform as much as it used to, it deforms in a "realistic" way, although other cars don't have this, only the sunburst does, it's very likely that they'll do this in the future, I believe this is very much against the verse

Would be cool to see the sunroof return. Even cooler if it had extended interactibility. Without openable door windows, this and the Nine roadster with the soft top would be the only 2 vehicles to implement some extra functionality to.

In the latest hotfix, the devs secretly added the option to have black and red housings for the tail/trunk lights on the Sunburst. The red lights in particular look really nice, and I'm happy that the devs listened to the feedback and added them back!

They didn't change the thumbnail to the sedan though, please devs, it annoys me since release lol, i don't feel like there's a good reason for the wagon to be there

Hiya, overall love the remaster! I've noticed a little issue that hasn't been addressed yet tho: The high beams seem to have the actual light source fade in and out, the texture in the headlight is just on/off tho (i assume that's what these are). That's all, thanks!

You beat me to it! :p
All three sets look great, but my personal favourite is the smoked one, it makes the Sport RS-Aero variants look ominous in any colour!
Plus I always like a bit more customizability in my cars! ;)

For variety's sake, the red set could be equipped to the Base variants, since it's the closest to the colour of the taillights and the rear fog light. Also, let's face it, clear taillights are too fancy for these humdrum versions. So the sets' colours will help distinguishing the variants. :)

    - Red = Base-trim variants (1.6 Base and 2.0 Base)

    - Clear = High-trim (2.0 Comfort AWD, 2.5 Comfort AWD) and Mid-trim/Top-end sport (1.6 Sport FWD, 2.0 Sport S AWD, 2.5 Sport RS AWD) variants

    - Smoked = Special Edition Top-end sport (2.5 Sport RS-Aero AWD) variants

Very good job on the car overall but I have some doubts:
    1. This is another car with driving modes which doesn't show which mode you're in. It's stranger still since it has a pretty sizeable onboard computer screen providing you with 2 only things: mileage and gear. Pretty limited functionality if you ask me. Maybe it could also display the current mode and c-diff setting in the sport RS variant. Boost pressure readout would be nice as well.
    20250413192132_1.jpg
    2. The awd in non-RS variants seems pretty rudimentary without any kind of electronic intervention to maximize grip and reduce one wheel peel on corner exits. In case of open diff ETKs even with esc off, the electronics still try to emulate lsd by applying brakes.
    3. Some variants seem to beg for 6-speed manual transmission.
    4. I see a lot of talk about wagon proportions, but nobody mentions how weirdly shaped the side mirrors are. They retain the curious geometry from the pre-remaster version with some smoothing applied. This is not strictly a subjective matter as some may suggest. Their shape just makes no sense and comes down to unfortunate modelling/design just as the old door cards did. The strangest part is the bottom edge that appears wavy as if it melted from the heat.
    20250413192102_1.jpg
    5. I’m not sure if anything can be done about that but there is a quite a lot of shaking in the ffb especially when the front wheels slip.

Not sure if this is just a Sunburst thing, but I've never seen this before in my over 9 years of playing.

The rear right window is really fragile for some reason, when I bounce on the dirt, it always shatters. I'm guessing it might be a jbeam issue where a polygon might be in contact with the underside? or it could just be the window being too fragile, it's an issue with most Beam vehicles when experiencing rapid G forces.
