After about 2.5 months of work, i present yet another project of mine that's currently in development, and this time, it's a car with a model completely made from scratch! It is still based on a car from the game, this time it's Hirochi Sunburst, but only internals of it are present. The car that the mod is based on is Mazda CX-7, a car my grandparents used to own until it was swapped for a CX-5 in 2021. I decided to make it just to remember the past and also remember that it was the first car i have ever drove at the age of 12. I also feel like nobody has even tried to make these kind of crossovers like CX-7 so i decided to try fill the gaps with this car. By lore it'll be directly succeeding Ibishu Prodigy mod ( created by @szanto_sz ), a mod i hope everyone knows and loves. Before i posted the mod here, i showcased the progress of it on various Discord servers but mainly it was present at my private Discord server where my friends are in. They were the first people to even see the model being made in Blender and then first ported into the game. One of them became kind of a fan of it, and they made me to focus on making it a reality, and not just another project to be left abandoned on my hard drive. Project itself began development somewhere in November of 2023 with modelling exterior parts and basic interior components, and then was ported into the game in early December of the same year. From that point on, i began major work on bringing the body parts in, adding wheels, interiors, and so on. Just to show how much progress was done in a single month, here's pictures of early December, and late December Early December - Late December - Most of my free time was dedicated on making the mod and countless amount of changes were done to make it very different from the Hirochi Sunburst that it's internally based on. After what felt like 2 days but actually it was few weeks on, the mod was looking good enough to be publicly shown on BeamNG forums and that's what eventually happened now. Features -57 Configurations (Including 2 prototype configurations). -5 Ibishu branded rims (for 17x7 and 18x8). -7 Engines (5 Petrol/Gasoline, 1 Diesel, 1 Hydrogen). -Cargo Boxes for Career Mode. -Dynamic Mirrors. -Dynamic Textures (Decal Editor). -USDM, EUDM and JDM parts. -Right Hand Drive interiors. -Interactable interior with working dome lights. -Animated gauge light test (modified LUA code from @MaxieTheFoxxie 's Crown Victoria with a permission). -Working digital clock (taken from @Docroswagge 's Arima Caelo / Gaia mod, also with permission) -Van parts (Panelled rear side windows and interior). -Police and Taxi parts. -Support for Universal Dummy/Stuntman Driver & Passengers mod (Agent_Y). -Support for European License Plates Compilation mod (JorgePinto). Known Issues -Tailgate can randomly break when closing. -Some stuff can vibrate when deformed. -Spiking is present in some areas when it's deformed -Hydrogen is still very experimental so it might not be as realistic as expected. -Some jbeams are either badly made or have an outsight bug. -If any MK2 Pessima mod overwrites the materials, this means that this car will also have issues with textures as it shares most of the materials from the MK2 Pessima to save on file size. -There are no race shifters despite the presence of race transmissions. -NOS can instantly drain fuel from the Hydrogen engine. -Stage 1 and 2 are problematic on 2.5L engine. -Manual shifter knob has 5 speed print while the transmission has 6. Credits Me - Model and everything else. BeamBot and some of my friends - Early Access. BeamNG developers - Hirochi Sunburst (Suspension mesh and basis for the entire mod), MK2 Ibishu Pessima (Shared textures and meshes), Documentation, Modding tools included with the game. People on BeamNG Forums and BeamNG Discord server - Suggestions, feedback, and overall support for the project. Planned -Customized version that might be based of Mazda CX-7 Adrenaline concept: Things i will not be adding -Convertible body (similar to Nissan Murano Convertible). -Electric versions and hybrids. -UTE. -Engine swaps. -Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) -Other stuff that is not related to either CX-7 itself or crossover SUVs in general. Pictures As a reminder, mind that if you'll send something hateful here that is not related to this or any other thread and it was just made to hate the author(s), you risk of getting reported and if moderation team would take notice of that, your account might be suspended.
That is astonishing! Can you give me a favor for a config? test mule My first thoughts it was a automation mod,but when i took a closer look it's a BEAMNG MOD!
Prototypes can be a thing in the mod however some of those "CX-7" test mules aren't really CX-7 underneath, they're just heavily modified CX-5s with the SkyActiv engine in them. Though who knows it might be a CX-7 just with a different engine and ruined interior but half of them showed up as CX-5 prototypes. Still, prototypes might be a thing in the mod no matter what.
From afar that grille kinda looks like a Pontiac - very effective way to hide a Mazda. Also, this looks great! Can’t wait to see how this one develops!
Finally! A lore-friendly Mazda CX-7, and a modern crossover at that, as well as the very (if not) first modern Ibishu mod.
I literally was looking for prototype pictures, and these are the same cars i found. However there was another set of pictures where one of the prototypes was disguised as a minivan (probably Mazda 5) and pictures have since been removed from some websites, not sure why. Though if i was recreating it, it would be a completely different car.
IMHO, the game needs more lore-friendly cars like this. When driving around, 80% of the traffic mix is small/midsize white/silver blobs like this. Awesome stuff, keep up the good work!!
the glowup from autron is crazy, always good to see regular traffic representation i see areas where the model can be improved on (steering wheel, general dashboard, interior door handles which appear to be backwards) i definitely see where you're going with the cx-7 inspiration, however i believe the dashboard is too long and the transition from the main dashboard to the panel containing the clock is harsh and inconsistent with the rest of the design. what i suggest is the following: create a shape that merges the dashboard with the upper panel, in the shape of a ramp like so (terrible drawing) this would definitely clean up the design a bit another thing i suggest: i'm not sure about the design of the steering wheel. i recognize the early 2010's mazda wheel, it is nostalgic to me. right now, it looks as if it came from an older car. this is because the airbag area is not large enough, the material you are using for the surround trim is very metal-like, and the spokes have a shape and size that is reminiscent of compact vehicles of the 1980's. in other words, it's too square. here is a design suggestion that illustrates the point i'm trying to make. very simple, but we're not reinventing the wheel. note the more rounded edges. i've kept your original button design which could be adapted over. as for the backwards door handles, there are some other things that slightly bother me but this is not my mod and i just wanted to deliver some design feedback
looks great, cx5 has a special place in my heart as the car i grew up with, glad to see someone making something like it in high quality for beam
this looks great! I am excited to have a normal car in beamng with that many configs and is lore friendly!! I love this mod already
Scrumptious Only real complaint I have that others haven't already outlined is the rear badging is bland at best Id try to recreate the Ibishu badge from legacy models a little closer, and perhaps with connected letters so it doesn't look like someone bought the letters from AutoZone and stuck them on the back. Otherwise, I agree with MrCin's general advice and critiques.
