Manual Gearbox Shifting sticks.

Why arent the shifting gnobs of Manual Geraboxes animated.
The automatic ones are.

 

the automatic ones are easy to animate, as they either move in a straight line, or rotate around the steering column in the case of column shifters.
manuals have to move in 2 axes to begin with (left-right and forward-back) as well as rotating a little bit at the same time. This is quite complicated, and add to that most shifters have a soft boot over them which squashes around, not really easy to do with the props system.

but why do manual knobs rotate?????

 

I guess you could get away with them not rotating, but they do IRL because of the pivot they're mounted on (notice this one in 2nd gear is leaning back and left)

ah, you mean THAT rotating, not like spinning

 

This one still seems to work although it's never updated or so. It might be possible that the reverse goes forward left instead of backward right though and the button of the auto gearbox handle might have a texture issue.

In fact, the auto gear lever is also rotating although ever so slightly cause the origin sits far away. It really would be cool to have one prop moving in several directions .
