finally, the engine sound discussion... I have a great idea for this, totally stolen from another game: dynamic sound generation over recorded samples! anyone ever played around with this in LFS? it's cool... with something like this coded correctly, just changing the muffler on the same engine could result in a different sound.
oh yeah i remember that! that's the only game that's ever actually done this though that i know of. --- Post updated --- No idea how they'll do it, if they do it like this.
im glad the devs for beamng are taking their time to polish the game before an actual update. i wouldnt want to see beamng releasing an update as buggy as car mechanic sim 2018. i prefer waiting longer for an update then have an unplayable buggy mess.
Actually, the Satsuma 210 has two engine sounds, one for the L4s, and another for the rotary. Anyway, on the topic of sounds: How exactly are they going to make tunnel sounds, for when we drive our cars around in tunnels like the ones on JRI and Utah, as well as driving in between tall buildings and under bridges like the ones in WCA? That may provide a lot of excitement to high-speed chases in WCA. Also, what if they're making different sounds for different terrains? After all, we have a lot of dirt roads in Beam, and they always sound a little flat while driving around on them. (Yes, I'm aware of the More Features Mod and I have it, but it would help if Beam could already do this, and I think this may be included in the sound update.)
Dynamic sound would be the coolest thing ever. Just imagine breaking the window or having the exhaust fall off and being able to hear it all. It would really enhance the immersion.
Got some apple juice for ya The excavator will happen and be released, but as a mod or official? I hope it's official, it just feels better and many kids will love it. Also the nastalgia from RoR, of course.
Guys the excavator would be used to showcase a company's product, so it would be a licensed vehicle if they chose to release it (which they won't because they don't want to pay for licenses).
I imagine it wouldn't be too big of a hasle to make a slightly different version of the excavator that doesn't include any licensed stuff after making the real one
As Rolph said, there is no reason they have to release the exact excavator they make for the project and no other... After all the work implementing the required features for a mere $3k, it would be kinda silly to not use any of the work put into it. I still think the whole excavator project situation is a bit strange... I really would like to see an official statement from a dev about what's going on with that. On another note, if this excavator project really is going to happen, I assume a lot of the programming could be reused for cranes as well, which I would love to see on the T-Series.
now that they said something about doing it, they can't really back out now can they? also, it would be fun to wreck cars with an Excavator.
Of course they can, if there is a problem with the deal, time constraints etc. People need not worry about it so much, its not like they have to update us on stuff like that as its a project happening beside the main game. It would just use commands, they have been in the game for ages.. Nothing new would really need to be programmed.
Or not. We now tracks are possible, but we never really saw it happening. I guess it might be an excavator with wheels. (Which is possible IRL)
To go further with what VeyronEB said, tracks are possible, and were already made before. https://www.beamng.com/threads/rotech-830-dozer-v0-9.34581/ I am pretty sure the devs will find a way to make functional tracks.
you do know they don't have to make it exactly like a brand right? i think they could use Gavril and get away with it, using various components off of RL excavators. cab from a Link-Belt, engine cover from a CAT, and an old Kobelco arm.
I sincerely doubt that Gavril will be used as an excavator manufacturer. Ideally, I'd like to have one or two in-game companies dedicated to the manufacture of farm, construction, mining, and logging equipment. Perhaps one American and one Scandinavian. If the Brazilian Construction Minigame does come to fruition, I wonder if the devs will include the T-series dump truck and some of the rocks. That wouldn't require much extra effort, and it might be more on-point for a trade show or whatever event the Brazilian firm is preparing for.
true but we won't know until things happen. i would love some official equipment. @MRcrash did a good job but they do have their issues
If they want to be funny, it could be an Ibishu, so they could have the smallest and largest vehicles. Or they could make it DOG. Dangerous Orange Giraffes.
