    mike94's satsuma it has tons of configs even one with a rotary. By far one of the best quality mods. Also all of Darren9's mods, they are all very detailed.

    Come on, the whole game had a single bad V8 sound for everycars for years :p
    I made the sound one year before the new system appeared. If it's as bad for you, it's not that complicated to unpack the mod, remove the sounds folder and edit the engine jbeam where the new sounds are already configured. The fact is that some people asked me the older sounds back because they liked them, and i had to agree that untill the sounds will be custom remade for Fmod, i prefer to have the old sounds for the variety included (cluncker, rusty car, diesel). But i'm surprised a simple sound question can break the fun of a so much detailled mod (if you like the other parts of it of course).

    Sorry, my brain is such that sound can make it or brake it :p

    Idle is as loud as full throttle, also rpm sounds off to me (about 1000rpm at 4000rpm), can't really complain samples because I know how hard it is to get proper ones, but sbeam is off and I think you can improve on that quite a bit to make your mod much better.

    Try this for example, take H15 rev it to 3-4krpm, then tab to your vehicle, you can soon find out how loud idle is, then rev your vehicle and try same rpm as H15, you can hear then how much it is off.
    upload_2018-7-29_22-43-43.png

    Now 1200-1500rpm or thereabouts volume of your vehicle is lower than idle, MUCH lower, so much that if you have low volume level on speakers, you can't hear engine at those rpms, however idle is thundering and can be heard from very far even if you are racing a motor inside other vehicle.

    You can also try park your car next to road / race track, then have your chosen vanilla vehicle to drive past at full throttle, you can hear what is the problem with loud idle, it does kinda overpower engine screaming at full load and rpm.

    As you have put some much work to make one of the best mods in every other area, sound issues kinda jump to face more ugly, here is bolide revving, camera near exhaust and your vehicle at pitlane idling, maybe this helps to see why current sbeam is bit of an issue?:

    These are very basic issues in sbeam, so when looking best mods like in this topic, these issues should not exists, imo.

    It is nothing to do with old sound system, but how sbeam is so much lower quality work than rest of the mod, so that it breaks the immersion and sound is always there, while with graphical issues you can focus on road, use hood view etc, sound is always there, same is with physics.

    For me that means, physics aspects and sound are much more important than graphical aspect, I guess that is different between different people, but I hope this helps to see why I can't see fullsize currently as one of the best mods, even it easily could be, it is only few numbers that needs to be modified, but I'm bit too lazy or maybe busy, so instead fixing it I spent almost same time explaining the issue to creator of the mod, human logic :D

    Hey Man, i do agree with weaknesses and improvments, i only said that the whole problem has a 5 minutes fix if you know how to unpack it ;)
    I have currently no energy to go back tweaking even the sounds of this mod. I spent way too much time into it.
    Currently if i had to go back into it, i will make it work in Fmod, not try to save the older system.

    I'm not here to defend the "best mod" side of this discussion, but only the fact that something like sound could kill the fun of something you could enjoy, in the same time that you bought the game with almost no sound at all for a long time:)

    I also think the game got many changes since fmods appeared and probably my work on the sounds got some changes, volumes balance which are not like when i made them.
    So i really think it was better in the first release in september 2016. Anyway those sounds are outdated but hey, every mod get outdated one day HA!

    Yeah, it certainly has changed, I think that when everything was in old system lot of stuff used values which are not working at all today.

    I think that your 5 minute estimate is as bad as mine :D

    Say, if you find that magical source of energy and especially secret stash of extra hours for a day, hit me up, because that is something I really would like to have, I guess that is bit of universal issue with modders, if we just could make all we want instead of all what we can...

    Anyway, what I have found out during last hour of poking sbeam, is that it all is so badly messed up, I wonder if sound groups are broken in game or something is changed how files get used, because TJ special for example seems to have multiple samples playing at once and if I edit sbeam in \vehicles\oldsfullsize\sounds so that idle sound is not played until 2000rpm (or any sounds) there still is loud idle sound.

    I wish you get sudden energy boost to do what YOU want, remember that it is always what you want and need, these mods etc. are result of that and sometimes it is what people will like.

    Interesting conversation really.
    The five minuts fix is a five minuts fix for real though, because i made the second release of the mod with official cars new sounds first, then i moved back to the older ones.
    But the code to get the official sound is still in every engines, it's only the detection of the sounds folder and an sbeam inside that disables the official sounds (they did that to allow modders to keep their soundpacks mod in Sbeam)
    So by unpacking the mod, removing all the "sounds" folders, you can really get the regular sound of the moonhawk for all engines, but with settings that have the same age than the game update with the new sounds, so things have changed since then. There could be some more minuts to get the newest sounds settings in official engines with i guess :)

    For the rest, i think the game got changes that modified the way my sbeam worked, i remember having made some tweaks to improve some things, but not all i guess.

    You know what it is, it's always exciting to release a new mod, but a pain in the ass to update it. Look at all the mods by Ar162B. I could tell how far he went to update his mods, but life has its priorities.
    Mine aren't a sound update on the oldsfullsize mod, not at all :p

    I was thinking of fixing sbeam, not just changing to Moonhawk sounds, little misunderstanding there :D

    If I find energy and especially time, I would like to see if it would be possible to fix sbeam issues, but I don't know if there is enough time.

    Well,
    you compared my sbeams with official cars, saying the sbeam were messed up and killing the enjoyment. So i was just telling that a 5 minuts fix would provide you the official sounds that work pretty well in your demonstration, that's it :)
    Now i think the mod would need to get proper Fmods sounds.

    Okay, it's a bit off topic now, sorry :)

    When you get those fmod sounds, then I would think your mod is going to be pretty much best one out there, because huge variety with quality in rest of the mod is so great that there really is not many other mods that get such high level.

    Luckily only slightly off topic, as it is discussions about how to make mod to be best mod, ehm. right, it is off topic, sorry :(

    I remember the W124 mod being very good back in 2014, and the best modern ones include:
    @NinetyNine Bolide Corse
    @Atomix I-Series wagon
    @Dummiesman Cessplane L19 and Antonov AN12B
    @BombBoy4 more engines pack
    @ScottieNiven Sound Pack (Before dev sound update)

    There are plenty of other fantastic mods, but these take the cake in my opinion.

    @D-Troxx 200BX mod. Can't wait to get a better computer so I can build some more cars and take high quality pics. I'm currently building a phat 200BX with an RB26 (RC26 mod).
