Are you serious... This has been discussed in 19453746 different threads. Is it that hard to use the SEARCH BAR ? Multiplayer is not coming. At least not yet.
For crying out loud use your bloody eyes. It is suggested on the first page of ideas and suggestions just a few items down from this thread. Near enough 100 times in search. See an optician and get glasses, or just check before suggesting something as obvious as multiplayer.
And before you say anything, online multiplayer will likely *never* happen. Local multiplayer likely will happen in the future.
I think it's possible we'll see it in the very distant future. Maybe 5 years from now (assuming the devs haven't moved onto a new game).

What makes you think they'll leave this game hanging before they finish it? (and actually, five years seems like a pretty good estimate of when this game will be finished, based on what I've seen. Although the recent dev blog post hints at quite a bit of progess since the last update.)
